Foreclosed Property, How About This, Oh, You're a Lender?

It seems to me that no matter where one goes politicians are struggling with foreclosed empty property that are a blight to the neighborhood and a significant impact to the tax roles and citizens. Layoffs, budget cuts, etc, and even more damage to people and your community beyond that empty home and yet in many cases we sit idly bye and wonder why something isn't done about it? Well let me ask this rhetorical question, would you expect anything to be done about it, really? Just what is this all about? Do you really think your local paper will champion a crusade? Yes, when advertising money comes from these sources that own, finance and sell these homes? How about those politicians? Do you think there might be an interest there related to campaigns?

Well "Golly Gee" as Gomer Pile used to say, let me ask you this, who owns that foreclosed property? You got it, the banks and lenders. Now just like us, is it too far fetched to consider that they who own the property should be expected to maintain and secure it, insure it, and pay taxes on it? Yet, how come that is not expected after they boot a family, a person out? They don't even board up the windows.

So rhetorically of course, why are they morally, ethically and just plain and simple as owners allowed to let the home deteriorate, fall apart, become bug and mildew infested, perhaps occupied by transients, lawns unkempt, etc, etc, etc? Hey they wanted to put a local man in jail for letting his lawn turn brown during a water shortage, what about these owners? Is this not a business transaction? Is it not the cost of doing business? Is it not assigned risk as part of lending? In some case they not only get the home they also get the land, which just might have been the owners to start with. They get the bling write off, the ledger write off as a loss they can turn around and short sell that same property, as is, and have a new mortgage written on it. Yes and We the People are asked to maintain it, suffer the impacts of it., suck it up. Yes and we sit with a finger stuck somewhere and say nothing.

Do you think if they had to insure that home, maintain that home, pay the taxes on that home they would perhaps, ok I know we are talking people here , but perhaps be a little more open to negotiating with them instead of booting them? In fact those expenses are also write off's. Well take a look at your "public" servants", local, state and national as ask yourself, just whose interest do they have at heart?

Now I wrote a similar article to a local paper and got zip, nada, nothing, zero. Yet people complaining and whining and all the while accepting it. Do you think if people massed together and let them know by putting the pressure where it should be things might change? Well I for one don't expect it from this generation of do little but complain types. The answer is simple, we created this mess, allowed this mess, participate in this mess and they, that's right, only respect you when you play the game as they expect it to be played. They don't like it but they understand it. Accept it and you are what they think you are, yes sad but true.

Now sit and ponder this one you whose taxes are going up while your neighbor is evicted, while that house next door falls apart, while your services are cut, yes and they are going up with their super calculating formulas if that is acceptable to you then what next?
