What Drivers License Do You Use?

Now certainly for non believers this article does not matter. Yet for the 82% of Americans who profess to be believers I pose the following questions. Just what drivers license do you use on our trip through life?

Lets first examine that to drive a vehicle you must pass a written exam. God does not demand this of you the state of man does. Yet God does expect you to be aware of how to travel through life. Now a significant part of this test are signs, warnings, limits and laws. For the most part we readily accept these in order to have the privilege to drive. You see it is not a right because man has said unless you observe the laws you will not be allowed to drive. Yes and the laws of man change from domicile to domicile whereas God's are consistent, steady, never waver.

Now just what does all this have to do with God? Well you see to navigate, drive, go trough life or to get to that destination we seek to get to we must follow the rules of the road. We must be alert to the signs, the warnings, the postings along the way. We must be observing and we must be focused. When we fail to do this we fail. We miss a turn. We take a detour. We wind up on the wrong highway. It is simply speaking reality.

If we ignore, do not obey, decide we know what is best we deviate and in doing so we can possibly go astray not only of reaching that destination but of the law. Some do it arrogantly and in defiance and only plead their case when caught. Some never fear the results and perhaps never get caught or eventually die or have some other unfortunate thing happen. Yes and as in so many cases they blame God. Woe is me.

So to hold God's drivers license we must also understand the signs, rules, warnings and directions God has posted in His drivers manual. He calls that the Word, the Bible. Now mans laws are cumbersome and complex while Gods laws are simple. To get to where you want to go you just basically have to believe in Him with your entire heart and soul. . He doesn't ask for more then that. Love Him, Honor Him and Obey Him. Quite simple yet so hard to do. Yes and like that policeman sitting at the corner or by the side of the road God does look to see if you are traveling right and obeying all. He knows that you are by your works. That is what you do or fail to do. You see by our works we are known, not what we profess. Anyone can profess and most who break the law, abuse the law or people are always ready to defend themselves and say, not me. Yet the deeds stand out loud and clear.

Like driving we are given free choice. Drive all you want if you obey the law or take your chances. The same with God. Hey do what you want but know if your caught and you will be with God, you will answer. You see God does not need radar he knows your heart and intents. Man doesn't, God does. So you may fool that policemen and get away but you will never fool God. Simply Speaking it is that.

Of course when a policeman pulls us over we are kind of stupefied. Why did you stop me? I wasn't doing anything wrong? They then proceed to tell you why and they will or will not write you a ticket, depending on factors. They may show mercy and let you go or they could hang you good. Well thank God that He is ready to forgive you when He pulls you over. You see His forgiveness is unending whereas man, well it depends on who.

So God's manual has signs and symbols and warnings and directions as well. From day one of the Word God has given us the manual to use when we drive through life. We certainly are in the world and therefore we must observe and obey all the world has set up as those in charge, the laws and the rules of man in authority over us.. That is an obligation spelled out in Gods manual. However and that however is significant, we are not of the world. We have been chosen, yes chosen and no matter how hard you resist God will pull you back to Him. It is just when you decide to make that decision for Him and He will be faithful to pull you back. Even in your stubbornness, arrogance and defiance you deem you do not want His gift, He will not lose one.

Now many will and do resist. Some do not even recognize it. They even go through the religious motions, professing to be what by deed they are not. No I am not talking going to church or performing religious rituals or even tithing, I am talking where ones heart is there is their God. So many while professing don't really want to give up the world. Their entire focus, even while professing God is on more of what this world has to offer. Yes and it becomes their God, their idol as spoken to. Yes and they never see the sign, the drive right through it or past it. Yes and as they become more successful they forget the values, the manual, the Word on how to drive through this world. They drive carelessly, recklessly at times throwing caution to the wind. Not I they profess boldly and arrogantly, someone else. Yes until they are stopped, pulled over, arrested and then the tune changes. Until it is too late.

So if we are who we say we are, then our deeds are a sign to those who know us. They shall know us by our works. Another sign is that trials will always be with us. It is like a marketing sign telling all who see mind you who and what it is and professes to be.

Now believers realize there is a difference between want and need. Certainly a new electronic toy and one might hear "I need that, or "I need to get me one of those." Is there a real need or is it coveting a want? So what becomes your focus? Recognize we have nothing. It is on lend to us. Sort of pay as you go to own. It all belongs to God. He just provides what we need. No not bling or more, needs, necessities, food, clothing, shelter, etc.

So as we drive through the highways of life what license do you use to drive with? If you place God's license first then all the others you will be in compliance with. If you place man's license first then who is it you really seek?

So what do you know of these days we live in? What signs has God posted for all to see? Like the traffic light, the stop sign, the no turn sign these are warnings, symbols, directions. Do you see them?

Remember not all will but you who profess to be do you? Why, because no matter who great or small rich or poor we all have an individual choice to make. Who you choose yours to make. How to drive yours to do.

Now one might reflect and say if we all used God's manual this place would not be so bad. Yet that cannot be until he who we believe in comes. Why, one again, read the manual.
