They Play At Religion.

Yes that is correct, they play at religion. Now this is not intended to offend those who do Gods work. Yet I will say there are many who "profess" to be doing just that and it is those who this is written to. Why, do I write to this? Well it is profound in a day and age where hurt is everywhere and people are in disparate need of help from others and it is now that it must be said and not ignored. Yes, others who stand up and profess they are followers and believers in their respective faiths, especially Christians but do not really do the deeds of their faith. Sadly many have witnessed and experienced the opposite first hand and more times then one could imagine.

these who stand before you as light but in reality casting darkness. In effect standing where they ought not to be. They look to show how pious and how good and how saintly they are. Certainly they give of their time, and talent and yes treasure but what is the true motive? Who is it that I am talking about?

Well s i just stated, those with all the outward appearances of sheep but who are really wolves. Their arrogance, pride, real belief showing in their tone, inflection, anger, choice of words. They are demeaning, cruel and self serving and their response and deeds is not that of a believer although they know not what they do. The fruit of their labors, well lets just say it is those who won't know what I am even talking about that this is directed at. They will never see themselves in this light because well, they perceive themselves are the "good" people.

Yes those who work for supposed agencies of help, who say "we helped you already an don't call back for at least a year". Those who ask and say "do you go to church and how often", or "why not go to your own church for a hand out" are the ones I refer to. Have you met them? Have you spoken to them? Have you heard them?

Yes and that 211 number that gives you a list to call only to find out and get many times that same response. Yes some of them wear robes, have religious titles, head up committee's and groups and have been in the church for years and hold high positions, yes all with the supposed intention of helping. However, as experienced, they are the really the professors, the lukewarm who no not do what they proclaim by word. It's basis for themselves.

Yes some even belong to organizations that profess faith and have oaths and vows but demonstrate little to nothing of the vows taken. They are the supposed professors of God who smile, look good, can be seen and heard bragging about who they are and what they do for God yet when all is said and done they are as far from God as ice is from fire. They have no understanding of hardship, pain, suffering and if they did it vanished a long ago in some other era or time. Yes they are the ones I write to each day. They are the ones I have experiences with each day and they are sadly in my opinion in the majority.

Now I realize this is hard to take and I am truly sorry for that. Just me alone, well I think not because I know many who experienced the same. These who do this are from all walks of life, they are from all religions and faiths, they are of every economic and social class and of every conceivable position of society and they do a disservice to those who are truly angels of mercy, love, compassion. For yes there are many who are just that, thank God.

However, the others will shut off your electric in the dead of winter regardless if you are elderly, sick, dying or there are small children, it simply does not matter, pay and pay now!. A few extra days, can we pay part now in good faith the rest a little later? Are you kidding, you irresponsible non credit worthy low life, how dare you ask for mercy, compassion, help! Yes and they proudly and arrogantly do their job and will cut you off and offer no help. Yes and in my opinion by experience they are the ones who think nothing of lying, and omitting and hiding and ignoring. Yes the ones who will ruin you, destroy you, trample and abuse you, label you and cast you out and all the while they will stand tall, proudly professing God and their worth, telling you they love you, calling you their brother or sister and telling you they will help even while they have no intention or doing so and even begrudge what they give you. yes it cuts to the chase hard but it is what it is. Yes, few want to know. Why, it is hard but none the less truth.

Does one even  need facts, truth, evidence, no it is all about us every day. In the thoughts words and deeds of whom I write about. Now are their good, decent, caring, people who love the Lord and do the Lords works? Like I said above, wwithout a doubt. However, do not doubt for a moment there are the others. Yes and many of them, yes many who profess but do no more then to play at religion.

So as many more seek help from churches, agencies, and other sources outside the government to survive and get the door shut in their face, told to go away, what can we add but, "are their no soup kitchens, are their no orphanages, let them eat cake". Please don't tell me this is not truth. Please don't make excuses it is not all, no it is not all but  it is more then one would like to think.

So professing and playing at religion is in my opinion not walking in the faith or in the doing of Gods works. It simply is not. No, as many will say there is good and not is all bad, I agree, but please don't tell me the darkness has not descended upon us all, please. Yes even to the doors of church.

This article was an incredible coincidence. As a frequent reader of online articles, I came to realize that I personally know one "writer". This person "plays at religion" and at life in general. This habitual "writer" professes love of The Lord and others, yet is the most destructive, useless, selfish liar I have ever encountered. They fool themselves and very often, other online readers. It is true, that to hold a mirror in front of these people would be a futile attempt at exposing them to their inner self. If these people actually physically "helped" anyone, I would be shocked.

I doubt any of them will read my response to your well written article, much less recognize themselves, but at least some of your other readers may THINK before they believe every self-serving word that is professed by less than truthful "writers". Thank you sir for a heartfelt article!

To elaborate on my comment, I am aware that this kind of deceit is not evident exclusively in online writing, but our population as a whole. I guess my response was written more as a word of CAUTION to those that tend to believe everything they are told. Thanks again.

Thank you Liz for your candid and honest comments. As persons who write we must consistently evaluate what our very position is. Are we writing truth, facts as presented or do we do what many do and slant or deny the information. My very first article was, "The View from the pew" which i felt motivated to write to. Last evening I had confirmation being a sermon on servant verses follower. The servant does for their own gain, the follower  for love. The servant expects something in return, recognition, award, gain. The follower expects nothing. Simply speaking it is that simple. Thank you for your kindness, sincerely, Robert
