Buy, Buy and Buy Why Bother to Cry?

Yes Americans went out on Black Friday and purchased 3% more then last year in goods and merchandise and even during a very depressed economic time. If you count just the few who were killed and injured it was a great day for materialism. Yes what is a few for the sake of that special item? Millions die each day, why worry about a few bad incidents, it is savings that matter and that bling. Isn't that what America is all about?
Yes and I wonder how much was on the arm and how much wasn't? Does it really matter at all? Not really. It was in my opinion another significant defining moment for us as a people. So I must say, why have I or for that matter anyone bothered to worry or write or be concerned? It really is not necessary. People have and that is fact and people want and that is a fact and actually what took place is defined well not as being important to living, surviving, no, importantly to individual well being The Easter Bunny.
Nope, the message sent is loud and clear, MOO. So why write any longer about people. It just doesn't matter. Sorry reality, fact, truth speaks for itself. Evidently people would rather have bling then eat. What more can you say, nada, nothing, zero.

They've had to funge the numbers this year since normally they use credit card sales to tally sales, so I would bet that the 3% number is eventually revised downward. We probably won't hear this until after December 25th though.Please log in to respond to this comment.I agree Bruce, why would our leaders or press want to post the truth? It is too scary and would create panic. They are trying to hold the line until they can respond. However while they hold the line people are destroyed. As example, Florida is facing a 30 billion shortfall next year. What are they saying, they are at the end of the line. More layoff's and cut backs. As you know I have been writing to it since I started with you guys. I am quite frankly shocked and appalled more are not. Robert, not only will these numbers be enlightening but fans will also pack football stadiums, too. Some would have had season tickets but not all. Americans are a spoiled lot! Yes, we're blessed, too. I think our priorities are a bit warped, though. I can only manage what has been entrusted to me, not every American citizen. I've learned people do what they want to do then cry foul. That happens from Wall Street to Main Street. Yet and that yet is significant we are to be concerned as believers for our fellow man. We are obligated to speak out as Christians and we are to make every effort to speak to a world whose priorities are wrong. Can we possibly bear everyone's strife, no. We are asked to bear ye one another's burdens. I recall when working for State Farm how we'd say, insurance even covers an insured's stupidity and carelessness. There is a deductible to be met to bear part of the loss. This is what I was saying in my comments. I know you are all for accountability and personal responsibility. You've written to this many times. I will bear my share of everyone's burden by praying for them, speaking out at times, voting for change and trying to do what I feel is the correct thing to do but even by doing all of this, people do what they want and still cry foul. The buck has to stop with them. I am amazed at the numbers who cry broke yet are still spending. Not those I read or hear about but those I know. Do I stop praying for them? No, I don't. I pray they are being responsible and stop crying broke if they're not. I pray they share what they claim they do not have with others.
I just find it easier to not be burdened by what others say when their actions contradict what they are saying. I do not love them any less. I move on to others who are asking for secondhand toys, clothes, gadgets, etc. to give to their kids and each other this holiday. Those who want to keep the utilities on during this winter and food on the table for their families. I am not cynical or have a hardened heart against those who have. I am thankful for their blessings. I just wish they tell the truth.

hi robert,we didn't have a big christmas last year due to the divorce, and no money. we had dinner, and a couple inexpensive presents for each of us. the ig D is supposed to be final on the 9th, so we'll see what this christmas brings. however, it will just be for my 2 sons, my daughter is "finding herself" and my partner and i.my sons both bought me aromatherapy soaps and candles, and i loved them.far cry from when my head was on backwards and i bought hundreds of dollars worth of presents. so, my friend, one family will enjoy each other's company, we'll squeeze money for something for each of us, and we'll enjoy simply being together.i have to say, it was nice not having to shop till i dropped, or wrap for hours, or try to pay off the credit card the whole next year until Christmas hit again.and i honestly believe it's good for the kids, too.I hope you and your family have a great Christmas, filled with love and warmth.my best to you,suePlease log in to respond to this comment.Sue Christmas is the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, period. An exchange of gifts is symbolic of the three wise men bearing gifts. It was placed in December by the church because the tree and gifts were part of a pagan festival. The two were united to draw more pagans into the faith. A great marketing ploy. It has now become the main thrust of the celebration. Best wishes, keep Jesus In Christmas. I think the answer is written across the lives of countless people all over this nation and those who do the killing, well not a thought about it. We are, like it or not living in a very dark age.
