What Do They Mean When They Return To Work?

Posted: Thursday, November 20, 2008

by

We are at war in multiple locations, Americans dying, we have a major economic disaster, families being thrown out onto the street, financial ruin and what ever else and they are going home for the holidays. Sorry, like the rest of us take a day or two but after that back to work. We do not need to wait and to wait is an offense to all Americans.

Would a business owner go away for a month or two while the business crumbles around him or her? No the fact is companies demand their staffs work day and night to get them through the crisis, so why not our government?

Why, because in my opinion it is not "our" government any longer. No a mere hollow shell of what we expect as government. Think of it more as an organization, made up of free traders. Yes and please don;t agree with me, you who placed them in power, please don't. I don't want to be rude but they're your champions.

Look these are people who are supposedly intelligent by nature of their success in school and business and in government. You mean to tell us these issues are so complex they can't seem to work them out? Lame duck my a _ s! What is to compromise concerning usury? You tell me?

Simply speaking it is an affront to us all. Yet they get away with it. Campaigns to speak out, emails, calls, blog sites all useless. Why, they don't give a damn , period and evidently many Americans don't either. It is as simple as that.

Enough said, you voted for them but sadly we all have them. Yes and those who didn't vote you got what you wanted as well, so stop complaining. By your hand or I should say by no hand, they are there. Yes and regardless, simply speaking the truth.

hi Mr. R,
it's difficult for me to stretch what little money i have for food and utilities, and such, but i'm 52, i can manage, and i can accept. i worry more for our young kids, 18 and older, who are trying so hard to make a living where they can support themselves, and most aren't making it. i bet more households have kept their children's bedrooms the same as they left, instead of making them into an office or sewing room, because inevitably, they may be back!

God, please help us all,

thanks for a good article,

my best regards,

sue

Yes Sue an evil age for if we truly are who we profess these things would not be. It is simply speaking that. What a shame more of us, especially on SAearchwarp are not angered by it? Best wishes as always for you. Robert.

I believe this is precisely the reason why people chose to take a chance on change.

I'm not sure that I'm following what you are trying to say here. Are you blaming an administration that has yet to take office for the disasterous mistakes of the old?

Jennifer, no, what I am saying is when we have a crisis such as we have impacting millions of homes and families there is not time off for anyone. One cannot profess to be a leader and take off in the midst of battle. Did they not take immediate action to save investors and the wealthy under the guise that this will help? That has proven to be false. Why, it is all across the media. Now HE who was voted in on his words, change, change how Washington does business, is installing the very same ones HE critized on the campaign trail. The same ones HE pointed out as being the cause. In fact this adminsintration is for the most part the same ones who led us down this path. Now that is the facts. I mean no personal affront or to be rude. It is simply speaking what it is.  Now you are right, take a chance. Why, like I said, past me, I didn't, but many did. I'll end with I hope I am wrong. and mean that. In fact I expect in a year or two things will be looking up. That though does not help the person on the street, losing what they have, being raked over the coals. Oh and yes they call them irresponsible. How is it that these leaders and those who cause this aren't?  Peace and sincere best wishes. Yes I write intense but frankly it impacts all of us and why we allow it is, well what can one say?

I feel that I should have known this, RM. I am happy I deleted most of my comments that follow in the next section below. You could have made chopped liver out of me! I agree, they should be back on the job come Dec. 1st but this has apparently being going on for years. I vaguely recall now.

"On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand."

Thanks, RM.

Robert, thanks for this info. I am against that much time off, too.

And you, chopped liver? Not in this life or the next, my friend. A true gentleman, you's are! (In my best Brooklyn accent.)

Thanks my friend. I enjoyed reading your response to Jennifer. I agree they should have the intellect to carve out a plan that works and goes directly to consumers and not through us. I guess not even through us but totally by-passes the ones who need help is what the current plan does.

We must keep the faith. I won't be with family for Thanksgiving but new neighbors have become close. I'll hug them and still be thankful. I know you give thanks for your family. You are blessed. Be well, my friend. -Avis

Avis I was pleased to see Obama moving on WPA and work programs. I am totally disappointed, not because I have been writing this for well over a year now, that THEY didn't take action sooner. The facts are they have no alternatives. People do not realize just how bad things are and are just now waking up to what is happening.. Hey I didn't know you were from Brooklyn, See ya as we say. Regards, Robert.

Well, I would have loved to have seen a bailout bill for us, but maybe that is in the works. They are initiating laws to help families facing foreclosures. Personally, I wish that they would relieve people from their consumer debts. I suppose that this would allow people to go on  spending and boost this economy, but on the other hand it will feed this cycle all over again. We are a people of consumption more than we are of production.

Now, a Republican would say that these bailouts for corporations will preserve jobs. This is true.

On another note: if you look at the oil crisis that we are in - and we are indeed in a huge energy crisis - that meanwhile we are kicking and screaming about having to pay for higher oil costs, if they do not raise the price of oil, then we will consume just as much if not more then we have in the past, as energy consumption is now at a point that we are spending more energy on obtaining oil then the amount of oil that we are obtaining. I'm trying to make an analogy here..I'm not sure that I am succeeding however. lol

What i am saying is that now i think that these issues are more complicated then we know.

Jennifer, I sincerely appreciate the dialog with you. I wish this was more blog like to an extent. Let me see if I can further elaborate in reply to your reply. As a bright lady who I feel I can talk directly with let me say this. There is no bailout plan for people in foreclosure or about to go into it, truth. How do I know. I am living it by experience and I know some very close to me who are living it. Hey  they have tried and gotten no where, fact. Yes and even paying your mortgae and trying to stay out of trouble the banks, investors could care less. I know it is hard to believe but ask people out there living the problem.  Investors  would rather hold out for the government to buy the bad debt or short sell. They win all the way around. If the government buys they will turn around and short sell to those who "can afford and are credit worthy" facts.  If the government doesn't the investors will. Sincerely, nothing negative intended but you need to read my earlier articles on Foreclosure.  It explains what a neighbor went through. That is all a facade about a "plan". Those who they will help, those who have and only those. Those who have not, on the street, a sad fact witnessed every day. Like Paul Harvey says "and now the rest of the story".

As for consumer debts I agree with you 100% but why think they would? They haven't yet, why? With all their professing about love of their fellow Americans, God and change, why can't they have done this very simple act a long time ago?  Yet they all legalized usury. Many people call Americans found in this situation irresponsible yet the very investors and lenders who brought this upon us and the system they propagate of credit purchasing get help, restructure, bail outs and face no penalties like people and families. Once again sadly fact. All one really need do is look at the fruit of their labor, what they do and better yet what they don't do = usury.Jennifer get this, these Credit card companies insure those debts and they still get to write them off for a tax break and then take you to the cleaners for all one is worth in Bankruptcy. Plain fact and all at the ok of Obama, and Hillary and all the rest who are our new Cabinet. Go back and understand the vote. Obama skipped and Hillary ok'd it. Done and didn't do.

As for oil. Most of everything involves oil. Product after product. Do we have surplus? Yes we do, but what do we do with ours? Maybe the American people should look into that? Oil independence, years away. They are in no real rush.

Jennifer, complicated, well I agree in some respects. Of course a lot of it will take time. Yet these are the elite of the educated, attending Harvard and Yale and Columbia and  the very finest of institutions of learning. Do you really think these are that complex for them? They did it ASAP for the investors and banks, didn't they? Yes, fact and they sold it lock, stock and barrel to us as necessary.  Jennifer what I have offered, if just on usury alone is a simple vote, costing our government nothing but the time it takes to do it and freeing millions of real dollars immediately to pay those debts, pay mortgages, etc. Facts.

I just wrote a new article which I feel very sincerely is not complicated to implement. In fact the entire WPA and CCC is in  a file cabinet ready to be dusted off. Look for Obama to spring a plan like this soon only under a different name. My question, why must we wait? Usury, alreay answered. Foreclosure, I offered a plan as did someone else on this site and many on the web. Ther are ways, why haven't they considered them should be the  real question?

Great talking, I'm open for thoughts, best wishes, Robert.

Hi Robert,

I meant to come back to this earlier but have not had the chance.

Obviously, you are very angry about alot of things. But I think it might be better to consider that these things are collective failures and abuses. What we are experiencing now is nothing that should be of any surprise to anyone, as this has been building up to this for a long time. I disagree that the Bank Bailouts are blatantly wrong, or wrong at all. The magnitude of the effects of crashing banks is part of what ( and significantly exactly what) caused the Great Depression to hit so hard amongst people as individuals. We can not let the Banks go under, because this would dispose of everyone's savings, investments with, etc..In fact, the Federal Reserve itself is a bank.

I hope that you will see an end to your distresses.

I agree with you regarding consumer debt, but remember that is was this deregulated free market economy that allowed for these abuses, set up under the Reagan era in America and Thatcherism in Britain.

There have been debates regarding economic theories for centuries, so why is it that you expect this administration to suddenly have all of the answers?

And btw..We do not have a surplus of oil! I am surprised to hear that you are unaware of this very critical issue.

Best,
jennifer

Jennifer, If my tone sounds angry or confrontational it isn't directed personally so if you feel that please accept my apologies. You responded with information so let me try to answer you directly but not hostilely. Yet angry I am at the situation here in America and the World. I would not be who I profess to be if I wasn't and that is a fact no one can deny regardless of what they profess by word to be. If one is not angry with the plight of people all over this world and especially in our nation that in of itself speaks a lot. Yes angry. There is so much to write to that how can one start to address what I have been writing to for years in hundreds of articles. Even Jesus Christ was angry with the merchants and money changers. Yes and now our "new" president offers a "new" plan. Well call me what you want but just now it becomes a "new" plan, really?  Yes and I am happy with that. I will give him credit for taking that action. However, do not forget  it is the only thing left to do and they must do that. The oil, well enough said. It is there in many places we have access to.  Banks, now those same banks who charge usury, who sold the mortgages, who did the deed, who get the breaks, get bailed out need our help. Really, I'm in shock. We get bankruptcy they get tax payer dollars, to save them? Really. Let me ask you this, if they are "irresponsible" why are they saved? If that doesn't make one angry then what can?Why not families, individuals, people, Americans as well? Your trusting in a bailout for people. As I said I hope you are right and I am wrong. I would love to be wrong on that and much more for the sake of my country and people.  You also mentioned, people's savings, my God Jennifer do you know if they want you cannot even get to "your" money, that is if you have any left. Most don't even know the extent of what has happened to their "nest egg". As for this administration you are right. I don't expect them to have ANY  ANSWERS and never did. I never voted for them at all. Nor do I expect any of these politicians from the same mold to have any answers. My God if I haven't said that over hundreds of articles who has? Yes it has been going on for years and years but and that but is significant why do we continue to allow it, why? Jennifer go back way back to my first articles and you will see what I have been writing to. The same theme over and over, why? Not anger concern. Now that concern has turned to anger, righteous anger. Now for my distress, I appreciate your sincere kindness. U really do.  I am perhaps better off then many who are on the street or living with no food or electric, with children and elderly, working two and three jobs and afraid they will lose even that. However, me and many, like many on this site will suffer at their hands because we are mere average people. Those that have will certainly prosper, fact.  My writing style to shock and awe, get a reaction, have people think. One does not have to agree. I just ask them to consider. You see Jennifer it is all about choices. And yes Jennifer things will get better in a year or two so that is why I continue to look up. Yes and here is one final one. How many don't realize how important looking up is? Sincere Best wishes to you.

Well, you did actually say that with all of their education why can't they come up with a solution, and that is why I said that after centuries of economic theories, you can't expect them to have the solutions.

Isn't it ironic that this Captialist country is in debted to the Communist countries?

I think that the real problem is materialism, regardless of high interest rate abuse, manipulations or irresponsible spending. We need to stop being a society of hyperconsumerism. Until we change our mentality, then this cycle will never end- that is until we are forced into it by bankruptcies.

Nevertheless, I wish you well and hope that you don't allow all of this to increase your blood pressure. You need some reprieve, me thinks. LOL

Avis dear friend, truth and passion do not always receive the warmest response. Especially if it strikes home.  It can only be accepted when one perceives it as truth and opens their mind and heart to it as a possibility. Certainly one can offer a response but only in truth. That is where the problem is. How can one when truth is what it is unless open tor ecieve it in love? As Always happy thanksgiving, hug your loved ones and be thankful you have them in your life. Robert
