Who Else But America?

What country on the face of the earth has done more for humanity then this great nation? Few to none is the answer. Yet, we remain one of the most despised nations on earth because of our success. What it really boils down to is jealousy and envy. We have given our young men and women in war. Our wealth has been disbursed throughout the globe. We have given more than any other nation to countries in distress and need. We have aired our dirty laundry for all to see and we have made efforts to correct our faults before the eyes of the world. Yet, the world hungers for our demise. Even as you read this our militray is fighting and keeping the peace around the world. Yet, each day you see the riots, stones, cursing and danger these fine young people have to undergo.

We are now attempting to spread our wealth and freedom and assimilate it into the societies of the world in the hope that this will somehow bring a share of our prosperity to them and eventually peace to all nations. However, idealistic this may be it is doomed for failure. It is not that these nations do not want, for want they do. They will take all we hand out and they will strip us bare and then cast us aside for greener pastures. That one commodity, essential for success is missing. What is it? It is the American Spirit of determination and will to succeed. That spirit of ingenuity and that gigantic heart which stems from a melting pot of the poor, tired and weak who came to these shores to build a new life for their loved ones. They built it on hard work, family values, character and ideals you find hard to imbed in anyone. They built it by their blood, faith and loyalty to their new land.

Can you say the same for these new immigrants who came illegally, defied the government, broke the law and demand they be given amnesty and citizenship? In fact most will not even strive to adopt the language of the nation, while the nation must bend to them. Our politicians see votes and low wage workers and that is all they care about. They are not leaders, they are exploiters and users. While they can get upset, the God above they profess will judge that - not I.

Yes, while some segments of the societies of these other nations have that same desires as we have here, the vast majority of these people are hangers on. They are content with basics and have no need for the desires we here in America see as normal. You see, you can spread our wealth, industry and all that we see as the greatness of our nation and it will do nothing for the vast majority to effect change. They want their sheep, their tents, the old ways. They are the ones who stayed behind. They are the ones who never took a chance. They are the ones who looked for help but gave little in return. We see it all over again in our so called allies. It is clear in our enemies and those who play both sides against each other. It is clear in the poverty, slums and hunger that mark their countries. However, these same "Christian" nations urge us to take more in, send our dollars home to them without even a concern for their own people. If things were good in their cuntry of origin why are they coming here?

So what is the answer? In my opinion, I think we all agree we should strive to spread our ideals and help all understand our way of life. However, I also believe that we are foolish and deceive ourselves that our way is best for all. In my opinion we should help build friendships and allies based on a recognition that all societies are not the same. That there are intrinsic differences that we must learn to accept. In doing so we build a bridge of understanding and friendship. Some of these peoples have lived so long under tyranny they do not know any other way. When it is eliminated they do not know what direction to go in. They wonder from leader to leader with no intelligent understanding of what they want. To those who we suspect may have other motives, we must be prudent and not open the door as the Trojans did. We should, as the late President Reagan said “trust but verify". Certainly we should not forget the Marxist goal and what they stated. While opportunities are certainly present we must walk slowly, but never fail to carry that big stick!

Yes we live in a complex world and there are grave dangers all around. While we want to be that nation that lifts others up, we must not forget we are at war and that there are nations who wish to see our ruin! In closing I say “God Bless America" , her citizens, soldiers and leaders.
