One Common and Acceptable Goal.

We American sometimes wonder why our government does not work they way we think it should. We see that some things we would like to be done aren't and some things we didn't want are and then again some things we want might be passed. We argue, we discuss, we complain and we become apathetic. Yet Congress is only a very small number of people we select to represent our views.
Can't we get anyone to run for office that we like, is honest, can get the job done? Well once again our view. Certainly these same types get elected each time. They have been in office longer then many Americans are living. So someone elects them, likes them, wants them.
Now I don't see many governments that function well anywhere in the world. Every time you turn around many governments are changing. They change as the people who vote change. Does it ever change anything as far as the average everyday people go? Well the answer to that we all know as no.
The only constants in our government by fact and record is the Global ideology. That moves forward in all ways. It is never held up, never delayed, never short of funding and when action is necessary it is taken immediately. Everything else from Health Care, to infrastructure, etc, that impacts the common man and is for the general welfare, well it is a "complex" matter that needs "comprehensive" legislation. We can't afford to get this wrong to quote a well known politician.
Yes, time after time after time. Why, well it really is simple. First of all people, all people, don't hold to the same beliefs, opinions, thoughts, perspectives, agenda or goals. Therefore if you cannot find common ground for "compromise" the solutions rendered are in effect flawed and in reality no solutions. Anything in my opinion that comes about by compromise rather then total consensus is flawed.
Let me put this in simple terms. No team wins the Super Bowl or at least attains to the level of competition for attainment of that unless they buy into the goal, objective, concept, vision. No project is ever successfully completed on time and within budget unless you have buy in and commitment. Simple enough or do I need to say more? I don't care how much money you throw at it. Do I need to mention a few sports teams that may jar your thinking?
So unless you have the goal, objective, the prize, the result desired and vision all recognized and accepted and all buy in and work toward that end the result is not what one might expect. Sadly usually a compromise.
So what do We the People expect from our government. Do we have a vision, a goal, an agenda defined? Do we give our workers the tools, funds, definition and vision to do the job on time and within budget? Well we can define the Mission Statement very clearly as for the General Welfare of all Americans. To secure the peace an domestic tranquility and to provide for our posterity and of all AMERICANS. It is a clear, precise and defined statement. You need no multiple page definition of what I or anyone else thinks that should be. It is the measure of if our leaders are doing their job. Their review should meet that standard or job description. It is the goal, objective, etc and why they were hired and what they are expected to do and like any employee if they don't there are consequences.
Now serving as our representative does not allow them to substitute their personal agenda's. No earmarks, not aide to foreign nations over our very own, not work on their own ideological goals, agenda, objectives, and certainly not to support selective groups, or entities over all AMERICANS.
So if we can sit back and examine very simply what these so called leaders, our elected representative do, we see in no way shape or form can we ever expect the change many of us seek, require, expect. It is an impossible task because of what I have just stated. There is no commitment to the common good, the general welfare of all, or in placing AMERICANS first in all decisions, their JOB!
Proof, ok you still need that? Well just look at the election map flashed on every TV channel you can turn to. Red States Republican, Blue state Democrats. The Democrats we can safely assume favor all liberal goals and objectives. The Republicans conservative thinking. Nothing wrong with that right? First thing that comes to mind, division.
Well frankly no, that is if they all have the same goal, agenda, object [which they all do, but not in my opinion for America]. What is that? Well go back and read this again and see if it opens a thought.
Now we are not naive enough to not recognize many of these issues do take time. That we can accept and really prefer a well thought out bill. Yet the objectives, goal, result should take into consideration with fairness and justice the well being of ALL AMERICANS. I keep saying that because many of these politicians use the world WORLD over and over again. They worry more, if you LISTEN closely, about the world then AMERICANS. Just "listen and you shall hear" as the rhyme goes.
So, until we get our leaders to do their job in this manner you will be spinning your wheels. By their very own record and words this current batch has failed time and time again. The fact that they will be elected again, by those who approve, is an indication that change will not be the change average AMERICANS are hoping and expecting for. It is by nature of fact a real possibility.
No not that there will not be "change", change will come, but will it be the change you think? Will it be for the General Welfare? It certainly will be sold as that, but will it be? So if your president is elected by those in the liberal states, those liberal ideologies will be implemented. If elected by conservative states those ideologies will be implemented. But keep this in mind, regardless of who of any of these two parties is elected, the Global and world ideology will always be first.
So until we have One common and acceptable goal we will have the type of government we have today. That is unless you change them .

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Robert,This is a wonderful article. I did not sense hostility or anger, only an honest plea and that my friend, goes over real well. By the way, did you hear that the credit card companies are considering reducing debt of each consumer by 40% and changing the interest rate to zero for 5 years for those who have fallen into the catagory of constant late fees and over-limit fees? Will they do it? who knows, but the fact that they publically suggested the thought is a good start. I don't know if that will affect those who have already been placed in collection, but if the credit card company is still the direct contact, it will benefit greatly should they follow through--let's pray they do!!!Please log in to respond to this comment.Teresa, I had that offer only to find out after making paymnets I had no offer. They neve put it into writing and when I follow up they o records on file. One honest person found it though and then they said ok, welll be happy to consider you again but we need to start all over. AS for hostility and anger. Well I have to admit I may come across that way and a little correction in perception does help, thanks. I would rather call it assertiveness but then again it is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks much, as always, Robert. PS: you are missing a good one with John Wayne. Yes I agree he is the same no matter what but it is a really good story and one I think you will enjoy. Please log in to respond to this comment.

RM, and your last sentence was the clencher. Until "we" have one common and acceptable goal" it will remain, government as usual. Too many with their own agenda and me and mine mentality. It's not a collective force. We'd rather participate in smear campaigns than come together. Written with your usual passion and honest assessment, I feel. My prayers and His blessings always. When the Lord finally establishes his Kingdom I know you will be sitting in a place of honor. Hey I may be calling on you for a little help, you know a prayer or too to get me out of trouble. After all boys will be boys.Blessings, Robert. Please log in to respond to this comment.
