Was There More To Be Learned From Calvary?

The lessons of the Cross of Jesus Christ are too numerous to mention but I will highlight a few. Certainly the meekness, humbleness and acceptance without complaint showed to the world this was a man of great courage, morality and virtue. Many will say, well He was God and destined for that. Well he was also Man and as such he experienced everything that any mortal man would, even fear, anxiety, pain, doubt. "Father if it be thy will let this cup pass from me but your will not mine be done".
We learned about man's inhumanity to man, the cruelty, indignity and the horror all under the law. Perfectly legal as is much we do today but sin no less. Legalized greed and abuse by those in power. We learned very explicitly that those who profess are not necessarily those who we think they are, nor who they think they are. We learned of how power and wealth corrupts and that those in power can manipulate through lies, falsehoods, innuendo, deceit to gain what they want.
We learned how Jesus conformed and obeyed the law even though he was innocent. He obeyed those in power even unto death. He never committed any sin nor did He condone the making of sin or the breaking of law. A fact ignored today very blatantly.
He accepted humbly the spitting, taunting unbelief, the cursing, mocking, jeering of those who did not believe and he did so without hatred but with love and pity for them. They even cast lots greedily for His garments demonstrating their craving for worldly possessions.
He showed mercy and compassion for the woman who were weeping and yes for all of us with His final Words. He prayed for us all.
So as we contemplate everything that our Lord went through on the Cross we understand how tremendous this lesson was. He died for a Love of us, His brothers and sisters. That His death brought us eternal life but also the method provides a reminder of the trials we undergo as believers. You see we too will suffer as He did because as the world hated Him they hate us. It is that simple. They do not do His works, no, they do the works of he who is the ruler of this world and their God, although they profess otherwise is of this world.
As the religious and Pius of that day professed as well but did the opposite so too do those of this day. Angered that he brought the truth into the light they rebelled because they could not stand in the light. It is also so today. Yes and it will be when He returns.
So the cross is a summary and example of everything He stood for, professed and stated. You shall know them by their works. Certainly He fulfilled everything and certainly we know His works. There is no doubt as there is no doubt when we recognize a true believer or follower. Yes and he set the standard for all true believers, those who actually follow Him and are recognized not because they say so but by their deeds. However, when we do have doubt that is the time to test, review, contemplate.
Is it unfair to ask, do you see those deeds in the works of our leaders national, state and local, in business, in society, at every level, in our neighborhoods, our churches in our very homes. Where you find the virtues of Christ you find true followers, not just professors. Sure we all all short but in consistency we find the answer.
Now is the time of separation. Where do you stand? This election and our nation is at the door. Will you open and walk in or will you close it?
