A Sinners Question to God.

I often wondered as humans who care, who consider their sin, their failures, their weaknesses against God and yes their fellow human beings just what prayers, acts deeds can they offer to secure Gods help and deliverance from their plight? The answer is none. Is not all we do but rags before God? Is it really that we should carry our cross as God says we should do so without complaint? Yet, many wish perhaps they could be given a respite because they grow weary of the trials. However, our time is a blink of the eye compared to eternity. However, in their frailty and in their humanness they need a hand to pick it up and go on. Even the Lord had someone to carry his cross, albeit a short while, he got a little respite. So as we stumble on our path and we reach that vulnerable time, it is then that we must turn to God for help.

Now many a sinner deems themselves unworthy. That God has abandoned them. Why should God help them, they have turned their back on Him? Yet it is they who are not humble enough to reach out and say, Lord I am a sinner, I have failed in all that I do, Lord I cannot do it alone, I need help. It is they in their pride that fail to ask.

Of course there are many on this earth to tear a person down. Yes to rip them apart, remind them of their sin, failures, wrong choices, yes, even while ignoring their very own. These are the very same that sit next to you in church and you hear praising God and dressing up and sitting in high places at church. Yes the very ones. They laud it over you for your mistakes and errors. They label you and chastise you and make the path even harder for you. Yes and when you are down they kick you and spit on you and laugh and mock you. Yes, how every strange, or is it that they do that because it is exactly what they did to our Lord? Yes they hold power and authority over you and they exercise while professing mind you of being in the light. The good, the righteous. Yes the same as the Scribes and Pharisees in our Lords day.

So what can a sinner do? Feeling totally alone, no one to trust, no man or woman there, even to relatives and friends they are lost. Some drop out, some kill themselves or entertain thoughts of such. They use the tools of this world and they fail. Doctors, therapists, counselors, and every kind of human form of treatment to overcome their situation and yet many times, more then not, it fails. They are then labeled once again and deemed even worse and they carry that with them their entire life. Do these people mean well, try hard, sure, but they are not the healer.

So who is left but the one who created you? Sure the unbeliever laughs, mocks, jeers, that is until they die. Then the thoughts come to mind, will I be stubborn in my denying? Will I maintain my pride and not acknowledge? What will happen when I close my eyes for the last time? Yes the question we all ask. Some go jeering, to where to be found.

So if we have any belief at all, even as small as there can possibly be, then we must consider turning to God. Does it mean all prayers will be answered, I will get all this world has to offer, I will not suffer. Well no. True believers are identified by their cross and how well they carry it. That trials will always be with us here on earth. So perhaps we may get all we ask but for reason God has in mind, yet God will answer prayers as He sees you need them answered in a way that benefits you and perhaps even others. We will know why when we cross over.

Now, although not mentioned a lot it is in my opinion perhaps one of the most single significant statements of faith in the entire bible. To me it stands along with the Centurions statement "say but the word". It says that there is nothing you can offer God, no nothing. "Our works but rags". We cannot bribe God to do what is not the will of the Father. So even as Paul asked he was denied. Gods grace sufficient for him. Yet this world is full of suffering, trials, tribulations and the root causes of them all, greed, lust, exploitation, and every evil one can imagine great or small. Yes and many for ages have toiled under the load. Yet we must do our works as followers, outward signs of our belief, but not to gain something. Our works go before as God wants us to do. It is by our fruits we shall be known. Yes in secret keep your trials and wear a smile. A major lesson I Lord and many fail at.

Yet keep this in mind we can be the most broken, the most downtrodden, the most wretched of sinners and still have a good heart. A love of neighbor and of God. Yet by our own choices or circumstances have fallen and need help. Will man provide that help, certainly but only through God if they are true believers. Those that have God within them are the ones who will offer real help. Not, not those who only profess. Their help is an empty shell and that is what destroys many. The come in the light of help only to destroy more. Their earthly riches they take not with them only the chains they have woven.

Certainly in my opinion when we are one with God the chances of us having God hear our cry is greater. Even Daniel, a most beloved of God, was a sinner and had to cry out for help. Yes but he had to admit his sin and repent and be humble before God even while a King on earth. So are we guaranteed God will answer us? If we do that surely he will yet we must consider that perhaps He will answer it or not depending on His will. Yes he wishes to make us happy. Yet as sinners we certainly do not do that, that is make God happy. He is offended and as a just God requires reparation , a true sense of sorry and change. No not the use of word change as the politicians use of the word change, empty and hollow, no real true change. No we must be as they say, Born Again change. A new creature change and even then we must recognize we fall. Seven times a day does the just man fall. So we are in effect all backsliders. For anyone to stand and say they do no sin makes them a liar. It is fact.

However, since we are all sinners, as God Himself has defined, then what motivates God to move in a persons life? To change it, make a miracle, do something that only God can do? Well we know God will not lose one who has their name in the Book of Life. So God will move when necessary to save a person. Secondly if we have professed God and believe in our heart, not just reciting words, we are saved. If we are saved then we do His Works. Hence you shall know them by their works, what they do and fail to do. It is that simple. The fruits of their labor.

So what do sinners search for and even believers? Is it why prayer goes unanswered? Did not Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a saint in the truest sense in her works and deeds, asked, why and had doubts? Yet each day she got up and carried her cross. Like Paul God's grace was sufficient and in what other way was her prayers answered that perhaps she never knew about? Did her example of suffering lead others to Christ and to do her work and His? I think that answer is self evident.

No, I do believe it gets down to the very basics of belief, trust, faith and in that there is no bribing God, there is only trust, acceptance that God will do what He will when He decides it is best for us and Him. It is as simple as that.

Yes the Centurion believed it was done and it was. Yes and that Centurion knew the principal that God is God and all God has to do is say the word. God is in charge of all things. So standing on that teaching and that our offerings are but rags, I will not offend God by bribe but I will trust Him. Yet, Lord I and many know not as a sinner what to pray or even how to ask. I and others never knew but ritualistic prayers. Yet I and we offer this prayer , if you want to call it that. I prefer to say it is a question, a talk between me, us and you, Lord. It goes like this.

A Sinners Question:

If a just man sins seven times a day.

Oh Lord what word's can a sinner say?

So just what prayer can a sinner pray?

To reach the ears of God this day?

If God does not hear a sinners cry.

Then what is left, except to die?

Will sign or miracle a sinner see?

Or just more silence and misery?

What is this world that God created?

Why are sinners those most hated?

If a just man sins seven times a day.

Then we are all sinners in many a way.

So how do we get an answer to prayer?

Can a sinner wonder, does God really care?

If He came for sinners, then why not me?

Oh, you did that for all on Calvary?

Lord you died once , for sinners all.

Yet it doesn't explain no answer to my call?

Lord why the suffering, sin and more?

You said knock, Lord, I'm at your door.

Yet I know not Lord what to pray.

Come into my life and save me this day.

I claim you as my Lord come light the way.

Please pray for me the right words to say?

Like the Centurion Lord, let faith be my way.

Save me and my household, this I pray.

Amen.

So perhaps like me you are a sinner, struggling with problems, and all sorts of misery, personal, family, spiritually and financially. Well I offer no solutions but God can. That is if we have that simple faith, belief, trust that God wants to do it for us. Yet no mere words of change you must walk the walk and God seeing that will respond. No trust no man but you can trust in the Lord.

So in closing let me add, well God if you heard my plea help me to be worthy of thee. Please Lord hear my cry. Worthy I'm not, sinner I am, I call to you, my trust in no man.
