The Candidates must walk the line.

I had a long talk with a pretty well versed young black man today. He likes Obama for reasons one might guess but more because he doesn't like McCain and that says a hell of a lot about both of them. We both agreed they are in our opinion of course not bad men. I guess we all can say that? We may like or not like them as leaders for one thing or another but we can say they do what they do because they believe in what they do for their own reasons known only to them. Yet if we really open our eyes to it both candidates are obligated to walk the line regardless of their tough talk.

Now when we look at the records we see that entirely, regardless of what they like to project. As president they just will not be effective without membership in the club. It is as simple as that. Obama, in my opinion being a black man must hold closer to the party line then anyone. His obstacles as a black man are far greater then McCain's will ever be. To say he doesn't face racism is a blatant lie. Yet the same holds true on the other side of the coin for those voting for race reasons only. Yet putting that all aside he can be a man for all seasons. Perhaps another Teddy Roosevelt.

So in my opinion the bailout they both want and see as required to help Middle American Families is really, and are we that naive, to help the investors both foreign and domestic. It sours in our mouths. The Usury on Credit Card debt, something they avoid like the plague, they ain't got what it takes to touch it, a blight on the nation. Comprehensive Immigration most certainly an item most Americans don't want, yet they persist in pushing, jointly. Continued trade deals that favor big business over Americans, a must have. Yes a sellout of our people. Yes and they are backing that worthless raising of the FDIC insurance. Why worthless, because if we had a catastrophic event like what they are saying might take place if this bail out does not pass, there isn't enough toilet paper anywhere to pay everyone back. And certainly don''t forget you can't get your money anyway. Think not, then think again. You do not even know what these people can do or not with your money.

Now the real major issue here that drives this world is CREDIT, period. That is where many Americans are hurting. Yes and we will certainly have to make sure China, India and all the others who own us are paid. Yes, the bill collector has called and asked "how would you like to pay this". You who don't have know the script.

If you are an average American forget it. Yes, but even if you have impeccable credit forget it. The simplicity is, no job, can't pay, no pay, no credit. No one can run from that. That is their fear. That is why all their talk is towards the Middle Class, their last hope. They're the only ones who MIGHT be able to get a loan after this bail out and the question is might. As I just stated that is the real fear.

Now take the statement Mitch McConnel of Kentucky which certainly did not speak for my interestsor that of any average Americans as taken from the AP today "it was time for all lawmakers to act like grown-ups, [that means tow the corporate line] if you will, and get this done for all of the people." Like I stated, this has nothing to do with ALL OF THE PEOPLE.

So we need jobs NOW and they have no answer for now. They have killed the fatted calf and shipped it off. It is that simple. Ten years from now, no help NOW. Required yes, but NOW. They have nothing to secure that with. That is why my suggestion of the CCC or similar is so vital NOW. That is why cutting Usury is so vital NOW. That is why resetting the values on home mortgages is so vital NOW. It takes a leader and one who can think outside the box they placed themselves into. Sorry, non here my friends, none.

Now as I said, Obama can go down in history as a great president for all the people if he just did things that needed to be done based on moral courage and conviction and not just spouting what people want to hear. What do I mean? He is intelligent and one suspects because he has a white mom and a black dad he is not prone to favor any group. Now that is a good thing. However, will that happen in my opinion, no. Why, he has been forced, regardless of what he may say, to sell his soul to the company store as the song goes and that is significant. He is The Easter Bunny. This last week proved both of them as bookends in that regard. They looked for the cue to talk.

McCain, well he is so hungry for the Presidency and he will and does blow what ever way the wind or tide goes. A great American hero, a patriot certainly, a leader, well his record isn't exactly the best either. Well you say hey that's politics and I say you're right and that is the sad part that you accept and allow and condone that.

So what does it take to be great? It takes what McCain demonstrated in Nam as a POW with other elements. Love of your fellow man not mere words. Throw in integrity, honor and compassion and you are one step closer to becoming Lincoln. It is what Obama demonstrated in Chicago fighting for poor people. But that does not mean at anyones expense.

Yes they need to cut the chains that keep you from being who you profess to be. Take a stance, get out there, lead and you will set the stage for greatness. Take a hard look at average Americans, the middle class is doing fine, yes fine. They still have their playoff tickets, retirement, still buying those cheap houses up, for who, who knows, but they buy. They still have that golf cart, health insurance, etc. No the greatness is in what you do for average and poor Americans. That is where you win or lose this race and I do not mean relating to the election but as a person and America's perception of you as to who you are and represent. Doyou favor big money and power or We the People. Lincoln, well we all know, a man of the people. That says it all.

Yet in my opinion they both continue to follow the company line and regardless if elected or not they will always be just another politician.

Maybe, just maybe Robert, it's time for the American people to reflect a little on the past to determine what it is they want and believe in. In my opinion, we have no true leaders today. Great article as usual!

Judi, I think you are so right. I know we and I supect others set high standards and hold beliefs that we do not see reflected in much of what happens in leaders in all walks of life.  There truly are no leaders, none. Yes as the Word says and to paraphrase -running to and fro not knowing what to do, in fear.

Now set it out before you what you want in a leader and then judge their deeds. First and formost a faith and belief in God and country. Not only a professor of His Word a doer of it. Loyal, courageous, with integrity, hard work, values, caring, kind, considerate, responsible, strong, firm, with wisdom, protective and understanding and above all loving.   A doer of what is right, noble and honorable with justice and fairness and equality. One who leads and does not follow, who takes charge, provides the expectations, fixes responsiblity, provides the tools and gives the authority to get the job done.

Now let us search their records and hope we find such a person. Best wishes as always, Robert. You have touched all of us with your recent articles. You are a unique lady and even though we have never met face to face I know and recognize you hold all of those qualties. Your family and your man is lucky to have you at his side.

Well, Robert, we can't throw in the towel, can we? I hope we do get some leaders with convictions and a spine but I'm not holding my breath.... The below comment from Anon is just an example of the public reading what THEY WANT TO UNDERSTAND and leaving the rest at the table which is why we're in the mess we're in -- I stand by your articles and I believe you to be a good, righteous man with convictions - again, want to run for office? (smile, I know your answer but figured I'd ask again anyway....) The best your way as always and keep writing - even if you get anger it's something -- it's apathy that we don't want!

Judy, I will never throw in the towel. As for the reply I received, well part of the situation is related to when we open ourselves up to the public. Read my reply to whomever they are. I think it sums up the situation in this world and especially this nation. Yesterday those who have LOST INTEREST $$$$ overwhelmed Congress begging them to pass this bill. That speaks to American interests my dear friend. Yes I would run but my broom is big. yes and guess who I would have in my cabinet? You wouldn't get off that easy and I know you could hold your own with anyone.  Hey look at it this way. I got to vent and someone else has to think, that is if they can. Best as always. Robert

Mr. Melaccio,

I am appalled at your blatant showing of racism. I see you as one of the ones that will not vote for Senator Obama because of the color of his skin. It amazes me that people like you focus only on his skin color, and not the content of his character.

Your racist beliefs comes cross very settle in your article, yet having a clear under current of bigotry. You may have fooled or fooling other people with the notion of thinking that the main focus of your article is "who is looking out for the common man", and "who is looking out for the lower class; however, if you read between the lines and the blatant racist implications, you are clearly a liar and racist.

White people like you can't except the fact that you have an intelligent, competent, and articulate black man that can stand toe-to-toe with any white person. He is the epitome of a gentleman, a stateman, and polished politician. He is the best thing that has happen to this country since former President Bill Clinton.

God bless Senator Obama and his family, and he will win inspite of you. God bless America because one day racism will not be accepted or condone by the masses.

I pray for your deliverance.

left by Anonymous, With all due respect since you opened the door to slurs, you know there comes a time when you need to respond firmly and this is one. It is evident you read but do not comprehend.  I put my thoughts on the line for all  people  to think about and consider. I am open to intelligent response in rebuttal, with fact and I will consider that and if wrong I will admit such. But your rambling needs some correction.  I'm really tired of being called names by people who do not have the conviction or courage to state who they are and provide nothing. Profess what you may, quote what you want but are Gods confirmation of everything I write about.  If you took the time to look into TRUTH you will find that is what I write to, not the facade you evidently like to buy into. Pray for me, thank you, and while we all fail and have faults your the one who needs prayers and I will offer them for you. Racist, no, my family is multi racial and I don't give a damn what color, race, religion, sex or gender or gay or whatever these candidates are. If they are good I'll write to it and if they are bad the same. As I stated, the fact is you can't offer one substantive thing, not one to defend your argument. Perhaps if you did you might have people listen to you and you just might win a vote or two for your champion.  Can they lead and do the job is the real question, not black, white, hero or female or even believer and who's interests do they have in mind before the God they swore they would do that for? No, not just talk which evidently suits your intellectual capacity. Mad, yes, you haven't the slightest and in my opinion you are a separator because you are not open to opinion, truth and fact. Your way or the highway.  In my opinion the likes of you are the reason this nation is in the mess it is in. You are the epitome of the Easter Bunny. Now i do apologize for my directness but your affront cannot go unanswered and anger is an acceptable reply.

Robert, I have noticed that you try to evaluate everyone regardless of race, political views, or religion. You are not afraid to express your views. I have read your article carefully and I sense your concerns for this country, whoever wins.

Thank you Jane. I try to express my opinions in the least offensive way as possible. Yet I understand the volatile nature of this vote. I will be the first to admit I don't hold much back and can be blunt. What alarms me is the comprehension issues. Yes I, or anyone for that matter may not phrase something adequately and for that we can be corrected. Yet these people who write without the courage to leave their name speak to who they are as individuals. They are the followers who always have something to say about something or someone else but never enough conviction to stand up and say why they believe what they do. The are the "why don't someone do something about it crowd" you find everywhere. A lot to say, in secret, and I am afraid that is what these politicians bank on. Best regards, thanks Jane.
