Is a Red Dawn a possibility?

Back in 1984 there was a popular fictional movie concerning the invasion of the United states by Russian and South American nations called Red Dawn. America woke up one day to find they were invaded and their government could not respond fast enough. 1/2 of the nation fell into enemy hands and average citizens had to fight back. Now I find that interesting in lieu of the deplorable state of our national defense and what Russia is currently doing that not much is being offered in the press but small articles. What am I talking about? Well just ask the military if they care to respond with the truth about our capabilities, which they can't.
Did you know it has been said there were times that we even had NATO pilots covering our Air Space because of a lack here at home? I would ask some old timers. did we not have the very same climate before Pearl Harbor? Who would dare attack us? They were even meeting with us as the bombs fell. I bet there is a few vets out there that remember that one and the anger it invoked?
So just what am I getting at? Ok, just this morning in a very small column in the paper there was Venezuela and Russia holding joint Navel Exercises with Russian 1000 troops. Do you happen to know Russia is considering missiles again right in our back yard, like Cuba and Venezuela. Yes they have resumed buzzing our ships and fly overs and over our nation. Oh that doesn't trouble you at all right. Silly nonsense. Just political maneuvering. Perhaps, just like Pearl Harbor? I don't know if your old enough to remember the military convoy's going down the interstate in Florida when the Cuban Missile Crisis struck? Many of those vehicles broke down. Frankly the military and specifically the National Guard was not prepared. Antiquated equipment and not enough manpower. It was only when Viet Nam cranked up that they started to build up that force.
So here we are with millions of illegal people walking all about our nation. Could a portion of them wish us harm or even do harm? We have a National Guard and Reserve deployed, sorely in need of equipment and over taxed. Most of our military if not 75% deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere.
So, for conjecture, lets play hypothetical. Lets assume that over time missiles are placed in nations close to us. Lets also assume a 5 th column has emerged and is operating within our nation. That is very possible. Lets assume an evasion came from our supposed friends, Mexico, and those who are now enemies supported by Russia. Lets assume that one day those multiple nations are holding "joint exercises" right off our southern coast and borders, lets say in Mexican Waters and all of a sudden, out of the blue another Pearl Harbor, World Trade debacle an invasion through Texas and the Southern States. Hey they would be halfway to Canada before we could react. Yes just like Red Dawn, the nation split in two.
Think not, ask the military. Would we be able to react, defend, expel? Oh, that would never happen you say because we would use nuclear capability and that would lead to a third world war. No that would never happen we have sufficient power at home. Thats all great but do we? Well crazier things have happened in history. So lets think that perhaps that capability just may be neutralized because of a first strike?
Oh well just utter nonsense. Well your most likely correct but are you sure our leaders are prepared for that contingency or possibility as remote as it may be? Are you? Just what tangible evidence have you seen demonstrated by any of them that they are prepared and that this is even a remote possibility in their mind? Just what makes you think this is even recognized? How can you blatantly accept that? Why do I ask? Well in these days you need someone who leads not reacts. With the World Trade center we reacted. With Pearl Harbor we reacted. In today's age there will be no time to react.
Oh, crazy talk. Ok then why the exercises? Political maneuvering. Ok, possible but as Reagan said and we don't seem to do any longer, "Trust but Verify". I'm sure there is now talk in the halls of the Pentagon and Congress. At least one would hope so.
I for one think out attention should be towards what is happening right here in our own backyard. You don't. Well keep your eye on the fine print because as time goes by that Red Dawn possibility just may start to seep into your mind.
