Walking the Path of Peace and Love.

It seems strange to me that for the most part people of every race, creed and nation when asked about peace say they cherish that. In fact many in war torn regions yearn for it and many who have it don't recognize it's significance. That is peace and tranquility in every aspect, environment, where you are, family, friendships, relationships, societies. Yet if we look at reality from the inception of Adam and Eve we find no real peace, no real tranquility. No we find quite the opposite, oppression, greed, coveting, slavery, destruction, war, exploitation and all the evils this human race can conjure up. Yes even while professing the opposite. Even while governments talk of peace and security, key words in our age and yes even while they build and maintain the edifices and buildings and structures and systems of man that are there to bring this about they never seem to be able to do, achieve, accomplish?
Now if you ask a loving parent what they want for their child a normal healthy mentally sound parent would say peace, love, health, tranquility, long life, friendship, prosperity. Yet there are many who could care less that their children are taught hate, to kill, to destroy, yes and all in the name of the God of, get this, Love. In fact not by demand the only faith that I know of that only preaches love is a belief in Jesus Christ. Jesus even goes as far as to say love your enemies. He makes it the command among all religious commands and he does not ask to impose that belief on others by war, by hate or through evil, no through love, patience, kindness. Wow how unique.
Do men do such, certainly many do not. Men have not done it through the ages and men do not do it in this day and age. So how do we as people, humans, one in the same called mankind bring about peace and love? It is to me in the starting of a very simple act. It starts with each of us bringing our love to others in thought, word and deed. It starts with ridding the worlds systems of those who's only thought is of this world and what it has to offer them which produces power, wealth, greed and imposes ideology or religion on others regardless of their beliefs or desires. It starts with you and I and everyone who wishes to have peace, love, hope and all that is good which stems from that.
Yet it takes action. Yet evil will kill those who try to instill this in others. No just physical death but in many ways to stop this from ever happening. Why, because it is a direct assault on their way of life, their systems, their goals, agenda's ideologies, beliefs their power and wealth. They harbor hatred and spread conflict for their own purposes and not for the common good. Yet the power of people should not be underestimated. It starts with one, then two, then more until it grows to be a mighty force. Did not Ghandi use this force to free a nation via peace? Did not Dr. King awake a nation through peace. Did not Jesus change and humble the most powerful kingdom in the world in his day through peace and love?
Yes, it starts with people who don't even know the other exists but who hold the same ideals and work toward that end. Will it ever happen, this change we all seek? Unfortunately not in my opinion. Why, the signs and symbols are evident all about. People are truly cattle. They depend on leaders to take them from pasture to pasture. In that they are deceived, duped, used. No, they continue to do that which they do not want because well, they know not any better and they will not take individual action. Indoctrinated by their systems they comply even unto the death.
Do you want to see the power you have? Then try it with one and then another. Do not expect miracles overnight but as the word faith implies believe and see it happen from unto another. So I leave you with this thought my brothers and sisters who makes the governments do evil, who makes business conduct evil? It is people and who allow it and who do it.
Peace.

Your article has so many valid points, although the term "for the common good" always makes me cringe. It is from Karl Marx's, Communist Manifesto and that deceptive term was used by those who wanted government to control and decide for the masses for the so called "common good". It causes those of us who are freedom minded to recoil at its use in our political arena. We understand you are not meaning Marxists use of peace at any cost, through bondage to government, but a different peace through faith. Too bad that Americans or Christians will never have peace on this earth, because others will impose their religion on us, through terrorism until the end. Inner peace with Christ is the only peace we will ever know until Jesus returns. Great read. Please log in to respond to this comment.
I do appreciate your feedback and comments and taking the time to read my work and do agree with your final statement as the only answer. I use the term "for the common good" a lot in my work becuase I speak many times to the masses, everyone. In our Constitution it states "to promote the general welfare" which in a general sense relates to "the common good’. However, while certainly used in democratic institutions or socialist system philosophy it stems much more from all religious faiths as a central theme or tenet as applied by them such as "doing unto others, etc". In fact Aristotle of Hippo was one of the first to use this term and Thomas Equinas molded this into a standard of morality asccepted in his teachings. So while yes it can be applied to socialist systems it is not the sole property of such and as I have utilized it, but your response is accurate and I appreciate that you observe this. Best wishes.
