The Demise of Conscience.

When we sit back and take a good hard reality check we see that the demise of conscience is at the core of all of this nations and our individual woe. A good friend described woe as something that God said was the most horrible experience one could experience. Woe unto you being a warning of great impending harm. Well in my opinion a great woe has fallen across this land and it is of our own doing.

Hey like others who am I, a nothing just voicing my opinion. Yet if the signs and symbols of everyday life are not enough to spur someone to reason and understand without having to be written about then what is?

As we approach this next election and really as we go through our everyday life we see the roots of conscience or what one could say is no conscience. We see a man in Oregon denied medical help because it is too costly and is told, die, because it is cheaper for the taxpayer and we do not hear, nor do we see any outcry. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

We hear of untold windfall in profits by major health, oil and other businesses while people are starving, hanging on , losing their homes and we hear no outrage, no real outcry, just expected results and complacency. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

We see the application of usury first hand and its widespread acceptance by many as acceptable business practice. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

We hear of Foreclosure and people being removed from their homes and we blame them, we curse them and yearn for private bailouts in the billions to salvage our own wealth. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

Each and everyday we see and know of the blatant breaking of law, exploitation and abuse of people and it is acceptable, deemed Christian and all because of profit and business. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

I have talked about the facades of government help and assistance for average or for that matter any American at local, state and national level and I wrote to fact. Yes facts no one believes much less cares about. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

If we look at our culture today and what we accept as normal, allow, condone we see a drastic, not slight shift in what is acceptable morally, ethically, and in our values and beliefs verses what was even a few short decades ago. In my opinion a lack of conscience.

So what can this writer say? I have tried to present what I know are facts to people who evidently by their works really do not care to know facts. It is not my views, or even opinion but facts, truth in what has been done or not. The direct results of works, deeds and not just professions, promises, words, yes and the multitude accept it, want it, yearn for more.

They show it in how they flock to see and hear these candidates. How they approve and work for them. How they approve, accept, condone, yes condone and in many instances are accomplices to all that happens. They are content, happy, satisfied and regardless of what they profess they like what is happening even while despising and chastising those who are impacted. Why, simple, in my opinion a lack of conscience.

You see conscience is the tool that keeps us correct, right, moral, unselfish in other words doing what is right verses wrong, selfish, self centers and only for the benefit of ourselves. Without conscience all is possible and probable. It is justified in ethical relativity, what would Jesus do, in words that go unfulfilled and broken promises, in blatant lies and distortions, in redirection, untruth's and missing facts. Without conscience yes, everything is open for interpretation. Is black really black, is white really white, what is a lie and what isn't, what is wrong and what isn't.

Yes and sadly by fact, the signs and symbols all about us, yes in all we accept and do, our works, what we do and fail to do in my opinion a lack of conscience. Does it matter, not at all. Why, because who the hell am I? A nobody who just happens to voice opinion. Yet and that yet is significant, it does not diminish the truth, the facts, the product one bit because I am a nobody. No, the truth stands on it's own even if no one ever voiced it or brought it to anyone else's attention. You see it has to do with each and every individual, their conscience or not, their views, opinions, perspectives. Yes the child molester thinks all is well and who the hell are you to tell them it is not. It is only society and yes "conscience" that makes the difference.

So this election I see no change. I see a lot of hoopla, cheering, professing, back slapping, and praising but, yes but no change. Why because in my opinion a lack of conscience.

Hi Robert, very well said. Conscience, what's that? it has been severed because of continuous rebellion against a Holy and Just GOD

Hi Teresa, I was just reading scripture concerning this when the article struck me. Of course we recognize that this is just signs and symbols of the age. I was just talking this afternoon with another on this very subject. I hope all is well in your new home and with your family, all the best, prayers, Robert.

Robert,

I agree with your opinon. I think though that we need to take one step back from conscience. Without a moral base, which is lacking with most people who have no real religious training, there is nothing for the conscience to work from. If I don't know the fundamental truths, then my conscience is like a GPS without a satellite connection. There is nothing there to guide me at all, not a shred of data to build a roadmap upon. We need to train the children on what God's word is and then perhaps their consciences will be reawakened. As it stands, many of our people are little blank screens seeking a signal.

Correct about a moral base Missing Link a good point as you always make. Yet I believe you do not have to be a believer to be moral or have a conscience. There are many out there in this world who lead good lives who have no belief or have given up a belief in God and have been brought up by good people who taught them right and wrong. A shame they know not God, but a fact. Now religion has not changed the world, nor has religion brought about an acceptance of God, nor has religion ever done away with evil in this world of mankind even though mind you billions profess a belief in God and to be practicing their faith. many more then non believers.  No, the answer in my opinion and mind grows much clearer each day. Faith, that is total faith, true faith, not just professed faith, means just believing in God and doing what God expects, Love. No matter what religion Love is the command. Yes and then the conscience would automatically default to that setting. When we do that it transfers from us to our works and hence right is performed. I hear much talk of love but little to no practice, in everyday works. So you are correct about what you offer.  Thanks for your reply. I enjoy your writings. Respectfully, Robert.

Excellent points Robert, Missing Link and Teresa. As you recently pointed out Robert and I agree, nothing will change until people change. You hit the nail when you said "lack of conscience" each time. The rebellion against God is very real and all to apparent.
