Now I Need To Ask, What Will You Do For the Common Good of All Americans?

In writing this difficult article I write from the perspective of one average white American. It includes opinion, concerns and reality. Now I didn't have to put "white" in there but I thought it would help distinguish why this perspective. You see the issues I write to are more important to me then race or religion. To me it is more about the person. So, to my readers I ask you to consider what I present not for confrontation but in light of that perspective. Feel free to comment and correct me. I venture to say many average white Americans may voice the same view in private but out of fear would prefer to stay "politically correct". Perhaps it is an issue they believe one should steer around?Well frankly and in my opinion that is at the heart of all our woes, personal as well as in society, that is, facing truth. In fact Mr Obama I was for you, that is until and yes until, you took a stance on four major issues in what you have done or failed to do, or that do not reconcile with my views. If we cannot stand for your values and beliefs what can one stand for?
Once again for those who have problems comprehending, it is not about color or race. Frankly I can name any number of solid black men in my opinion who could get elected even more so then Obama and by white America.. Tony Dungy for one, Lovie Smith, Colin Powell to name a few and for that matter any number of capable black woman. So lets tie this all to what it is about, for the common good of all Americans or all races, colors, creeds. Notice the term Americans.
Yes this arena you have entered and placed yourself into for the "common good of all Americans" will play out over the next few months and years, and if elected in what you do and what you fail to do in the most powerful position in the free world. We already know by your positions and stance on topics that 81% of Americans do not favor what your intents are. That is a considerable number. How will you reconcile this? We already know 50% of eligible American voters who do not vote do not favor you as president and even 50% of that 50% who do vote do not reconcile with you as well. Therefore regardless of what you profess, you do not by nature of your stances take into consideration the majority of Americans hopes, desires, needs. Why would you continue to push these agenda's?
Rhetorically, perhaps many are of the opinion that you are biased towards your own personal views. Nothing wrong with a personal view yet different when you lead for all. Yes, you may have good cause but still it reflects in what you have done or failed to do. It is the simple truth sir that cannot be denied. You can sugar coat it all you want to but the real root question once again is what you will you do for "the common good of all Americans"?
So the very legitimate question arises if 81% are against your stance how can you be fore these positions? That is perhaps unless that 81% is meaningless to you? Unless you ignore them and do what you please for whom you want? The Law of Selective Application as you see fit. Your agenda and the agenda of others verses theirs?
Now please don't tell us if elected you have a mandate given you by the American people like the last President. 50%, of all eligible voters who actually voted in that election and of them went for the other guy. Do you exclude them as meaningless? Rhetorically, perhaps you just take care of your own? Now that I can understand, yet if I recall, they put those types in jail.
Lets move on to another topic of interest that is hurting the common average Americans all across this land. Something you did little to nothing about and still don't. No, we are not talking words, but deeds. Will you address the 31.9% interest and more on Credit Card debt that you, yes you, were part of permitting? No not Bush, although in my opinion he had role as did his cronies , by your non action while voting in the Senate. Perhaps you will ignore it and allow it to continue? Perhaps you will fluff it off with your are working with ,etc, etc, etc on this complex matter. There goes that word again.
In other words will you do what is best for all America and how and when, or will it be for the world ideology you embrace and your personal ideology? Will you sir represent our Constitution and be a representative of the people, not by word but of the people, by the people and for the people and for the common good of all and in and by your works? Will you provide for the common defense and domestic tranquility of all Americans? Like I said, many are concerned about this Mr. Obama. No not just by word of mouth or fancy speech but by deed?
Will you address the inequality for all races, yes all, because we have reached a point in this system that many races feel disenfranchised, yes even your own race and some may be of the opinion specific races are being favored by your works and your deeds and that of Congress. The truth is there sir for you to ignore or not, but it will not change one thing concerning what all the people expect from you and what many of us recognize.
No sir these are not issues of race, religion or gender although many will try to paint that as such. I have no time for these types, Moo. So you have picked up the gauntlet not only for your race and as a black man, but you will if elected be in a position in history to either assist and raise the cause of justice and honor for your race throughout this world and here, or and that or is terribly frightening to consider, to set their cause back decades or more. That is the reality of the task at hand. We can only lead in this world by a demonstrated example that we obide by our law and our values, have we?
I do not consider any of the others who ran against you in any different light and certainly not your Republican rival. Yet it is you who are the crossroad. You see, like it or not the bigots will be watching and those of your own race who will be demanding and expecting from you and yes other races who will all tear at you to see just what you are made of and who you favor.
Rhetorically, will you be expected to right all the wrongs and injustices of centuries? That is not fair to you yet when we look it is plausible. The direction you go will set the direction of this nation for centuries to come. Will you represent all and all Americans or will you set other nations and their people first and cloak it is good and right and decent and just, while ignoring the misery before you right here at home?
That will not sell any longer from any politician sir and certainly not you. This is all about character, morality, ethics, values, honor. They are what you and others have sworn before God to uphold and to do. A person, any person holding these values must exhibit these traits in all they do. To that extent more then 85% of Americans agree this is not what they see in their leadership. You will be under the microscope more then any other President in history and those values while there, better glisten.
So if elected what will you do? That is the essence of it all. Many are betting you will continue down, what is in my opinion a biased path you have laid out previously. Pushing trade and immigration many are against in its current form. It is not trade they are against it is Fair Trade they want. It is not about immigration but all about illegal workers who break our law, steal ID and are rewarded for doing so. It is and never was about allowing them to work here legally. You never even mention the root causes of their woe. Exploited by our employers and Mexico's role in all this. Do you think you will get a pass on that?
That is why many fear you will favor specific groups and you judgments may be biased toward them. That you will not do for the common good although you will cloak it in fancy words and speeches that you will. That you will not provide for the common defense or tranquility. Do we have that now? You sir will have it all on your shoulders and no one to turn to any longer. You will be center stage and with no where to hide and many to blame should you fail.
No I do not envy the path you have chosen to take but yet I sense true history can be obtained. No not because you are a black man. It is more about the man then any race. The fact you have been given the opportunity should silence the critics. While important, that isn't the focus. You have in my opinion and in your grasp an opportunity that few ever had much less a black man and that is in reality to shape this nation and subsequently this world. Which path will you take is the real test? Will it be for the common good of all, or an ideology and agenda? That will be your challenge and that will be your legacy if elected.
As for your opponent he too is at that same crossroads but in a different perspective. Will he favor special interests or do what is being asked above? The fact is many see him as a carbon copy of what we have now. In fact Mr. Obama, many Americans see you as their hope. In that you have made your bed as you wanted it to be. So let us see that change you profess, but a change for the common good of all.
