"A House Represents a Family" and Employment Hope For the Future.

One half of the title comes from the wife of Mr. Martinez [pardon my spelling] who had a new home built for them on the TV reality show, Extreme Makeover. A great show about everyday decent people. It struck me as to how profound that was from their perspective of giving. No not as an investment to make money, an investment in community, people, families, wow what a novel concept. So as we sit in our homes, no matter how big or small, how rich or poor, how opulent or sparse where there is a home that holds true love we must and we should never ever forget that home represents a family and yes when we go to work, we should never ever forget that secures that home and represents a families future. Why has that lesson somehow been lost?
We must not forget the worker who comes to America to find work because his own leaders do not provide what is necessary to secure that dream. We must not forget when we take a persons livelihood and we cast them aside for profit we destroy a family and their dreams. We must not forget that we plunder and rape the very essence and core of a country. We must never forget when we foreclose, when we evict and cast out someone who has fallen on hard times that we destroy a person, a family, a nation from within. Yes and we should never forget it is by our works and our deeds what we do and what we fail to do and not what we profess that does this.
Yes those who profess while conniving, exploiting, using, taking, manipulating and coveting all under the guise of good, decency, God, country know who they are. Yes they cannot ever run from that. Yes and while they feel secure in their wealth, their power, their riches, their position and even a God they profess openly, will that God be so quick to forgive them? Are they so sure?
No we must look up and down our street, out to the next block, throughout our towns and villages our cities and our nation and see what we do to our fellow man. Do we help them or enslave them? Do we guide them or sneer them in a trap of financial ruin? Do we bring upon ourselves the crime, the horror, the hate caused by our own destruction of our neighbor! Is that the real work of who many profess?
Certainly many bring it upon themselves by their deeds and yet this does not have to be. It really does not have to be if we who say we are do what we say we are. Yes, I defy anyone to examine if this is the way of this world? I do not speak to any religion but all religions and religious who profess but do not do that they profess to be. To all those who hold positions of power who profess but do not do what they profess they are. To every person of every race in every nation that does the same, I ask are you who you say you are?
No I do not mean dropping coin, writing a check, giving to your favorite charity I mean doing for your fellow man. Doing in the things that help not destroy. Doing in the things that eliminate coveting, crime, abuse, hate, exploitation? Doing what you say you believe in Love of Neighbor?
Yet, we all know it starts with each of us and we know very sadly who we are. Does it really matter who others think we are? The answer to that is NO. Why, because you know who you are, the real you, and if you do not do what you profess it is all very simple. You are the Easter Bunny. Yes, all packaged nice and ready to buy but very hollow on the inside. I need not ever know, you already do.
So I will write a more extended article about "Hard Numbers" [an article written in today's St. Petersburg Times, Perspective Section by one Kevin Phillips]. It strikes at the very core of our problems. To those who know my writing to be direct and hard hitting well this man lays it all out for you. Yes you are scared, afraid, hoping because for many of us that home and that job is going, going, gone. It is time we woke from our slumber because frankly it might just be too late. As he says if the truth were known and I will leave it at that.
So I leave with this Mr. President, Mr. and Mrs. Politician, Mr. or Mrs. leader no matter where you are and yes even you just plain and simple Mr. and Mrs. everyday person A house represents a family and employment hope for the future. What are you doing to insure we all have that opportunity?

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)hi robert, for 20 years, i have raised 3 children, and been in a bad marriage. now that we are finally going through the divorce, "they", a woman judge i have never met, may force the sale of our home. this will happen this friday. i am one who believes in home and hearth, i am a cancer and we love our families and our homes. i have 2 kids out on their own, and one still at home. i want them to be able to come home if they need to, and on holidays and birthdays, and barbeques. my partner and i have 5 kids between us, and 3 grandchildren. will the judge care? i'll let you know. this was a well written, interesting article. thanks for sharing. best regards, sue thomPlease log in to respond to this comment.Sue as mentioned the loss of ones home is a devestating event and one not easily overcome. While true a home is where those who love are found and make it such, the home is the center and the bond that all attach to. It is their safety net from the world, a place supposedly of security, rest and yes safety and above all their symbol of success and who they are. To take that is to take the breath from one. A home is material in being but spiritual in content and as long as long as you hold onto that spirit you will be family. How sad that man does not understand the significance of a home to average people and he poor. IN remebering this judge know she is but a mere instrument of a corrupt society who regardless of what is professed as light is no more then a facade. Now many take offense to the truth but it is no less the truth. As you know by my writings I am moved to write directly because frankly that is what truth is. It is not that I am not a sinner and fail as all do but what I write to is the truth to be believed or not and that is not because of what or who I am but what is fact and truth so that others may read and understand what people are faced with. So it is those who write the laws and say they are our leaders where the problem lies. In what they do and fail to do, in what they say which is far from what they demonstrate by deed and evidently beyond their capabilties. While the sin lies with them we must remember our own. So we who care join in prayer and ask Gods help for you. Not because we are worthy but because he we believe in and profess is our only hope. No mortal, just him. So have faith that whatever path he leads you through he will provide. For in essence we have nothing else but trust in him. Our trails really do show us how hollow this worlds systems and what is has to offer really is nothing. Best wishes for you and yours. Please log in to respond to this comment.
