The Road of Life

Yes, the road of life has many paths. Some of these roads lead up and some roads down. One day joys the next suffering. It is a world of absolute beauty and at the same time the most hideous ugly. Yet, I and many acknowledge it was all made by God. Yes, and some who wonder deny and question How a God of love and perfection could allow and make such an imperfect world or allow it to exist. Yes, everything in and of it was made by God and for God but man is the one who turned it evil. Am I saying god created man evil? No God made man to choose freely and since day one man has.
God speaks to who He is and why he sent His Son. He talks in His Word of creating some for the wrath. He stated that in His Word. Yes, it is there if you search. He talks of being an angry God, a jealous God. Yes, even Moses was punished for a transgression and did not enter the promised land. Some wonder if the path you walk was laid out for you before you were born and all that you do was and is known to God before you do it. It is called predestination, meaning you have an end already selected for you. That we all won't know until we cross over. However, we all have free choice and as they say to make our own bed and lie in it. Your choice to do good and your choice to do evil. Yet we all know that all men sin and fall short and commit evil. So we know that God already realizes how wicked we all are. Yes, even the most saintly fail. es and He sent someone to help us becuase He realized we can't do it alone.
So as I look around at all that God created and all that I see that is beauty, as example the creation of life from conception to birth, I see the hand of man destroying it for selfish reasons. I see an act of love that created a unique being out of a union of love and I also can see in the same union of two people some who only looked at it as a selfish act of pleasure. They only wanted sex not a child. Yes, their desires, goals, objectives hindered by its arrival and arrival that innocent did not ask for. Yes, it was pleasure, lust, self gratification, vanity, ego and everything else that speaks to the consummate me person.
Then I see the death of that child, for the same reasons. Oh sure hide it in a lie, shroud it in choice, say it isn't a person, it does not feel, it does not know, it is as they say an embryo and that it is your right to chose its life or death. Yet, in the end, in the very end and in the deepest part you know the truth. I condemn no one and especially the person out of weakness, fear, anxiety who commits the act. However, the one who commits it for themselves one cannot fathom.
If we look at the beauty of real love, no, not physical love but true love between people, a mom and her child, a dad and his child, from person to person and for someone, a selfless, giving act of your very being for another we can also see in that same act when there is a rejection, a turning away, abuse, hurt, sorrow, use, exploitation and all that are centered in what is in it for me. We also see the ugly side of love and the destructive side of love, the deadly side of love. Yes, it can be a union which brings joy, happiness, a new creation or it can kill the body, the soul, the being of a person scorned, rejected usedand discarded. If we look at man, born in the image and likeness of God and according to God given the gift of immortal life through a simple choice, why is there rejection, hostility, scorn, ridicule, hate, lust and covetousness. Are the rules too hard or is it simply we kid ourselves? Is it really that unless we are saved we cannot ever save ourselves so why bother?
Why were we all born to do all that I have stated, good and evil. However, the real question is why do we do all that I have stated? Why is it we cannot change even when we struggle so hard to change. We pray, we fast, we go to church, we quote scripture, we do good deeds we profess and yet we fail. We do as Paul said, we do that which we do not want to do. There is a rage inside us that is conflicting a battle. Call it what you want it is a war of the flesh and the spirit that never ends.
Oh sure some fight hard, resist, change, while others fight change, detest change and reject the commands of God. So, here is this world we see those who resist and fight and those who submit, are humble, meek, weak and obey? The question is for how long? How long does it take before they to fail? I think if truth be told not long.
It is simple because we are what we are, sinful in nature. So we were born into this world of suffering, this Valley of Tears as the prayer says. We even enter screaming as if to say no, leave me alone, I don't want to go and for many the trials start immediately. Oh sure some will amass riches, fame, fortune, power and everything this world has, while others will toil all their days and die poor, penniless, broke in all ways. A fact my friends. It is was and always will be as long as this world continues. No need to ask why after we are gone. It just does not matter.
So my friends as we walk the paths of life, to turn right or turn left, to do or not to do, we are making choices. Those choices will bring joy to some and sorrow to others. They will hurt directly or indirectly. They will bring tears of joy, or tears of suffering. In the end it will all be about choices. Choices we all make.
For he most part and I am sad to say, those choices are for the negative, the evil, the bad. Why do I say that? Well just look around you and see for yourself. Read the paper, look at situations all about. Look at war, death, poverty, sickness, financial woe, exploitation, greed, lust, and covetousness and tell me it isn't so. Sure there is beauty but as God Himself stated, the gate is narrow and few enter. It is one thing to profess and another to do. After all we are all sinners.
So today, tomorrow, whenever when you smile, laugh, share a moment of love with your family and those you hold dear enjoy and savor the moment because as sure as it is it will flee you and a trial will arise. It has been foretold, trials will always be with us. Some will be big and some little but they will come. So, do not envy those who have and life seems all joy for them, for their reward is coming. Be thank ful for all you have or were given and do not question the path you are on. Remember perhaps you will change direction if you care to? Perhaps that trial is your doing or perhaps there is another purpose? Who can tell but God. The hope we trust in is that it is but for a moment.
I truly hope you will never experience the trial, I truly pray you don't have to but I suspect you will. As for me my answer is very clear. Whatever the path, accept the cross and continue forward and whatever God has ordained it is for His purpose and His plan.
