“And Now the Rest of the Story”.

How significant are those simple words that impact all of us in many ways day in and day out. Yes, Paul Harvey, a well-respected and known journalist and reporter made a career out of telling of those very situations to us all.

In retrospect it applies to almost every interaction we have as humans. We certainly see it in disputes, sales, impressions, understandings, perceptions, laws, agencies, government, religion, the media and on and on and on where humans relate to others in one way or another. It is what is not known, not said, hidden or lied about that is the key to many situations. How many have heard " Oh, I never knew that", or " non one ever told me that", or "whoever told you that was incorrect" etc, etc, etc. I venture to say we all can relate to that? We trusted the source of our understanding and we were taken advantage of, mislead, lied to, exploited and downright abused. Rhetorically, can we say this might be so in politics or with car dealers?

Yes, we all lean on our varied sources for the truth and information to make decisions, choices, take action. Therse are people close to us, we know, leaders, the media, organizations, writers, journalists and certainly church or religious groups. We generate opinions, make perceptions, consider action, take action, react etc, on what we take in and what we expect is accurate, the truth and complete. In my opinion, what fools we all are yet we have to accept some things to get by. It is just that we need to investigate as best we can if there is a rest of the story.

A slant here, omission here or there, the use of statistics, the avoidance of information, bias all can shape your opinion, what you believe, etc. So why one might ask do we all continue to fall into this trap? Of course many will say not they, but I do believe there have been times in everyone's life they trusted someone, heard someone, etc, that they didn't dispute but took for Gospel.

So, I have spent my limited writing career speaking to things that I have experienced, are factual and the truth and found quite frankly that not many people give a damn. Oh sure they may agree, are empathetic, find it interesting but it is what we are as human beings. It is in effect just like religion, like the Baltimore Catechism only with human connotations. Example, man does, man will and man always will fall for it and man really doesnt care. "Just a fact Jack, as the movie goes"!

So as I write I wonder just what the purpose really is anymore? Why do I bother, or for that matter why does anyone bother, or why be concerned about the truth? I can certainly write about things of lessor importance, like did Marie really faint or was it faked and probably double my readers? Yet, it is an exercise of my mind coupled with a desire to spread the truth and perhaps change something's for the better that peole write to these hard topics. Yet, factually I am a fool for believing that. It is more emotionally consuming and sadly upsetting to percieve few really give a damn. Why, it is just another fact concerning the human condition and while many have enjoyed my writing I find for the most part these are the same over and over who share opinions and dialogue with me and think the same. The rest of the story can be found in reality and in fact in the topics on this site and the number of responses and readers of those articles and as to just where the readers and people's true interests are, in reality for them, who cares, it is just the way it is! Evidently, they can't do anything about it so why bother and to read it just makes them more upset. I am starting to believe that myself.

My dad was a wise man in that he always said we are just specks in the ocean of life and no one gives a damn about you except those who love you. Like sand on a abeach just those we touch care and as the tide of life rolls in we are swept under and replaced by new sands. Where the tire meets the road and when things are rough that is where you will find the true friends and those who really are who they say they are. These are few in number and lucky are you if you find such.

So the rest of the story for me is this, worry about me and my family and those I love because you can only trust a few and those you will know by their deeds and not just their words. Yes and always remember "trust no man"! Sad, no just fact!

I suspect all should take heed as well. So for everyone who loved to listen to Paul Harvey and "the rest of the story", he is gone and so is the rest of the story. For all of you who have a caring heart and do help others, you are doing that what you profess you are. But always keep in mind as far as the masses of people go, they are more talk then anything else. Nothing interesting in it except that which impacts them, sad but true and that is exactly why the Gate is Narrow and those who enter FEW!

God Bless!
