At Will Employment, the Facade of Facades.

The Wake Up Series as a series of articles presenting real and hypothetical considerations.
You may have noticed I write rather direct and hard in my articles when I speak about believers and Christians and other religious and even those professing they are decent people. Now I always must remind myself we are all sinners and fall short. The difference is if we recognize our faults and care to change? Now you may say that is judgmental but Id rather think I write to the facts of the actions and deeds as experienced, stated and done. That is not judgment that is just fact. I leave the right and the wrong to you, the reader.
So just who do I bother to write to? I write to those who do care and who are concerned. The ones who have undergone this type of sitiation or has, or have, a loved one experience it and feels their pain or financial hardship that they had, or are undergoing. It is not for those who could care less because they do not care. They can say what they want but in the deepest recess of their being they know the truth. No that is just their charade that must be presented for practical reasons.
Also, I try to keep in mind that it behooves us and in fact is required of Christians to speak out against that which is wrong. To that end I speak out. Hard talk, well the facts speak for the truth I only present them in written form.
You see those who support At Will employment consistently say it is [get this] good for workers. This was stated by a recent Presidential candidate who is also for Comprehensive Immigration and has a major religion as his a partner in the cause. I am not against reform just honest reform and to that end I have set forth what I believe is an equitable plan for that. How can one be critical without offering an option? However,in my opinion it is too bad they don't consider the American worker along with the exploited? So they claim very emphatically that At Will is good for workers because they have and [get this], the right to leave a job without recourse.
Well holy cow, without recourse they say. Well here is where our opinion differs. Can you get unemployment, no? Does it matter if you were verbally abused or ridiculed, no. Does the owner get the right to say you left without notice, yes, Do you think that will play into any possible new job hiring? Will you be out of work and have no money coming in? Would you even do that in today's "robust economy" [cough, cough] with a family or obligations? That is unless you are one of the lucky that have secured one of those low paying jobs that this economy is built on. You know this robust economy those 20% who own 80% of it all like to brag about.
As for the owner, they get the right to say goodbye, via email, phone, letter or whatever other means at their disposal without so much as a reason. Rhetorically, I think if they wrote it on your garage door the state of Florida would say thats ok. Oh, the legislators are upset, I think not and don't hold your breath on that. They
are the ones who implemented it years ago and have strengthened it. In my opinion it is about reducing costs and increasing profits " and thats a fact Jack"!
Tell me that you have protection and government laws to assist and I for one have the experience to tell they may be on the books but that is about it. As for the Department of labor, give us a break. Ok, let me stop here to take a breath. Try living in what is in my opinion a God forsaken state that is now under His wrath, like Florida. Just an opinion but look at the problems it is currently undergoing. Could it possibly be Gods wrath is upon them? Could it just be so? Oh how can one say this? Well if you look at it all instead of assuming you just might start to form that same opinion.
Yes, this law is an extension in my opinion of those who profess to be religious or believers but whose focus is on their true God, money. Not all but many who use it as a tool. Now don't forget there are many who still are what they say they are. The sad fact is these others types lay claim to it as well. So of course theyre upset by the truth. How dare someone say that?
However, do you remember when there was a process for termination? Do you remember when you had worker rights? Do you remember the right to form a union and in those places where honor and integrity were a symbol of that firm no union was necessary. Rhetorically is it starting to sound a little like Russia or China as to workers rights?
Yes, let them espouse they are proud to be an At Will state for in my opinion their pride goes before their fall. You see the owners should have the right to fire for non-performance or other infractions but should not the worker at least have their day in court or be given fair warning or a chance to correct whatever the employer sees as wrong? Oh those days are long gone you say. You are certainly right about that, along with everything else.
Well it matters not to continue with any sort of logical argument. In my opinion they ignore the very sins and wrongs they propagate and all the while these types profess a belief in God and country and the law. So lets look at the signs and symbols of a professed believer or decent person. So just where are their professed religious beliefs exercised? Do you think a decent person or believer would discharge anyone without a thought or concern for them, without giving due process, without trying to correct any situation that needs correction and give that person a chance? Do they council, do they offer help and do they warn, no. How can they fire a family person without trying to resolve what they percieve is the cause? How you ask, the how is they just dont give a damn, thats how and as the movie says, "thats a fact Jack"!
So as Santa says Ho, Ho, Ho. That they actually believe that this is right, ethical or moral. It is the law so no argument there. However, in my opinion there is no moral argument they can offer in defense that my perception is wrong. I just don't see it by their actions, or deeds. Oh sure they will talk around the facts but never give an answer. they are in my opinion the experts at saying nothing.
Yes, in my opinion an At Will State says it all. They can cast fathers, mothers or anyone out without care or concern. Tell me as a Christian or any decent person this is right; just tell me how they can look themselves in the mirror? Oh, you say they are probably not Christians, ok tas i said above then tell me where the decency is for their fellow man? Are we not the "family of man"?
No in my opinion it is another sign of the times we live in and it is another darkness and pall that is sweeping across this state and this nation. Yes, the brotherhood of man is really the brotherhood of money, wealth, power.
I do not ask you to agree and most wont. After all many have theirs and let the others eat cake. Let them tell the rest how great this is. As for me I look at it as an ex manager who had many people under my supervision and apply one word, sin! That word they know exists but when they do acknowlege it they shade it as to its degree or to serve their need.
If you agree call your representative and ask them to change this from being an At Will State to one with at minimum basic worker rights. However, if you really do not care, then sit down, have your snack, coffee or finish that game of golf and leave it for someone else. Yet, don't complain when it hits home. .
