Does “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Hungry” Mean We Open Our Doors To All?

Evidently America has now become the sanctuary of all in the world who are under duress? Not that helping others is bad thing, that is not and never has been an issue with me or most decent people. Also, this has always been a nation of immigrants no doubt about it. However, these developers of this "immigration" bill cleaverly and carefully avoid any mention of the key word "legally". Remember “I did not have sex with that women?" Yes, even Christians found no fault with that act. “I like the man" they said. Speaks a lot about people who profess doesn’t it? Forgive yes, be careful, by all means.

Do people really believe we have an unending stream of wealth in this nation? I for one would like to know where it all is? Oh, I know with that 20%. We are trillions in debt, we owe our enemies, and our dollars buy the weapons they point and will use against us. We no longer own our own resources, we have no manufacturing to speak of and they talk about "full employment" and low statistics. Tell those who are out of work for over a year that. However, they never mention the type of jobs these are that people have and they talk about more new business but they never talk about every Tom, Dick and Harry with their MLM pitch trying to make money to survive. They never talk about the real plight of American middle income and average and poor. Yes, just like Katrina, remember, they just did not exist.

So open the door and let everyone in. Why won’t you do this in your own home? Why not take these people in? Why not give them shelter, food, money and whatever it takes for as many that show up at your door? What is wrong with you, are you not a "humanitarian" are these not “good" people? You may also be a good Chistian or of some other faith and isn't it the right thing to do? So we can eliminate the problem if we all take as many as we can in.

Why should anyone be upset when your loved one is replaced by one of them at work? Why would you be upset when you have no money to save for retirement, no money to send your child to college, no money food or health insurance or even gas to get to work? Why should you be upset when family, trying to come here legally and waiting 20 plus years is told get behind these illegal workers who we have now rewarded for crime. After all you are supposed to be a ‘humanitarian" are you not and isn’t it the right and just thing to do?

I ask is this a message to send our youth? Yet, these newsmen on TV ask the dumb question, “what is happening to America" while lauding these same people day in and day out. They are in my opinion the Baghdad Bobs of this day. Crime is ok if it is the right crime and for the right reason.

It would not matter if you lost your home or you had to work long hours and maybe multiple jobs. After all you are helping people and "that’s what Jesus would want" isn’t it?

Well I think Jesus wants us to start with our own first. To make sure they are protected, secure and housed and fed. Then with our excess to tithe, oh I struck a nerve the rich will not be happy about, with our excess and tithe, if there is any, you can do what is right for others. Yes, “charity begins at home."

So with that in mind all you who seek to help these “immigrants" that we all know in truth, not lies, are people who exploited an opportunity for personal gain. There is no lie in that. Can you blame them? Well that is a real hard question. Can you blame the thief who steals from you to feed their children or their habit? Is not a crime a crime and does it not impact someone? Are there now degrees of crime and categories of crime? Is it that Selective Application Theory again? What about the starving, poor, homeless, sick, dying here in America? Do you have no “humanitarian" comments for them? What about those out of work? No money to retool them, no grant money of education funds for them or their children? No comments, they are left out of the equation, is that right all you who profess to be religious?

Please, do not tell us the government provides social programs and millions every year. You are right but have you looked who gets it? I give you the French wealthy “let them eat cake“! Yes, there are handouts and yes there are social programs but until you know what these are like and about average and poor Americans undestand they have little to no chance of any real help . These illegal workers, instant whatever you need. Americans even have to prove over and over again that they are real Americans even though born here. Yes, even if they went to school all their life here. Ever wonder why they have to question you when you call on your own account at the bank?

So I will close because I am really tired of people throwing falsehood around as exapmple, they take jobs Americans do not want to do. Look into it and get the true answer, or that they are “good and decent’ just like the Mafia Don, because I am positive they also love their families to the point of killing for them.

So no more when you hear these whiners and gripers that want to shove this down Americans throats. They in my opinion evidently are the real power brokers in this country. They are for and supported by big business. You know the ones that fought against that minimum wage increase. They hold the reigns of power and now that they have met resistance they are upset. Like I said, in my opinion do not work for the good of Americans but for their objectives and ideals. If you don’t even consider what I am saying is plausible, you never will.

But for you who are concerned write, call, email and do not stop until there is a just plan. Let them know you will not go away because that is just what they are hoping will happen. Stop and we all lose!

Another good piece, Robert. My doors are always locked and I'll bet my one and only buck that the Politicians keep their doors locked as well! What does it take to open their eyes...more disasters like 9/11? Heaven help us! I for one, appreciate insight and thought provoking ideas such as yours. Keep it up, just maybe it'll get through some thick skulls.

Thank you Faye, if we are a nation of law and the majority of us profess to believe in a faith then we cannot disregard the law. Christians know that Christ obeyed the Law and that to use his teachings in any other way is sin. It is not about any nationality it is about deeds, integrity, right. Those who approve never mention exploitation, abuse, greed.  Yes and thank you Faye for your kindness. I do believe as I have said in other articles the message [as noted by the number of readers] only reaches a few. It is in sharing the message that it grows. You are free to share it with whomever will listen and has an open mind. Blessings, Robert.

The statue of liberty poem was never meant as a beacon for illegal immigration and the statue itself was never meant to be representative of  legal or illegal immigration.

The poem by Emma Lazarus (Jewish poet)  was a tribute by her friends and has nothing to do with illegal immigrants.

People have distorted things to suit their own justifications. Look up the history behind that poem and you will see that it has nothing to do with immigration. Period.

As I stated my Uncle, dying in Italy is still waiting via the legal process over 20 years. My wife waited and family waited 20 years, came, learned the language and became citizens. A hard working young man from the Dominican Republic came, waited, learned the language and just became a citizen. He is proud he is an American. Does he love his former country, of course but he always says., I am an American first. So why are we not addressing exploitation, abuse, greed everywhere be you Cardinal, minister or Rabbi? The message is what we must share with our family, friends and neighbors. This is not about a people, it is about right. When they bring up religion they just do not know. Thank you for your excellent and kind comments and for reading.

One should look at what causes this. Its not because they want to come over and spitefully take jobs away and bash the American ideal. Our illustrious Government played the Mexican people by paying off the Mexican Government to KEEP THE PEOPLE POOR so we could have cheap labor IN Mexico - and much worse - you should know that. And now Hispanics seek refuge here and we have no way to sway the small percentage of true criminal minds borne into it that may also creep over and join the born American criminals. Jesus would say, Love Thine Enemy! I say, love thine enemy, because they may not be as horrible as you think. Your words border racism, the fine line of it. You think we are treating them with any human decency during their hardship? Who cares, implies you. And WHAT makes US so much more important???? Not all of these immigrants exploited an opportunity for personal gain. Let us not forget that they are human as well. Crime should be punished, and it should start with the power brokers and the big corporations (that have robbed us again and used predatory tactics - its sick!). We are all in this together. We should not close the doors to Hispanics, but rather clean out the corporations who abuse us and raise the minimum wage and make them pay, for once! I have had it with corporate slavery and manipulation.

Anonymous, You need to step forward with who you are when you care to voice an opinion otherwise it has no credibility. The facts, that many close to the situation do not evidently care to look at fact because YOU MAY BE  close to it is the root problem. You prefer to label like many and remain ignorant. You are in my opinion more a problem then you know. You are the one who helps separate iunstead of facing truth  and you try to justify deeds that are not acceptable. Yes exploitation and the rich and powerful in Mexico are at the base but your anger is directed at me. Perhaps you should be taking action in that direction toward those who help exploit these people? In working toward getting leag work visa's wher they can come, work and go home to the country they love so much. Now you missed entirely the fact that NO NATION can possibly take in the worlds poor and survive. Youa re living a dream. You did not say anything about the fact we give billions of our gringo dollars to take care of these people at our citizens expense. Our government places them first in line over our own citizens. All that is evidently acceptable to you? Hey it works for me, right. Your soul not mine. Yes I'll even help you to get it after all your entitled to it, right? Regardless of anyway you wish to state it these are not immigrants, theya re illegal. They came, broke the law and stole Id and now are exploited by the wealthy here. They are not following the Word of God, even though you use His Word to justify your belief. The fact is Jesus never broke the law he fulfilled it, he never condoned sin, fact and I could go on but hopefully perhaps you just might understand. Now it is evident you have not read my other articles where I state I have no problem with anyone coming here to work. No you read this and reacted. No let them come, get paid a fair wage, pay into our systems like we average Americans do. We are not all rich, richer then these poor folks but not by our standards. Yes and we need not reward them when they break our law, we need not learn their language, we need not celebrate their culture. IF and they really wanted to be Americans they would show it like my wife and other immigrants have by coming through the system legally, waiting years, learning English, working the low wage jobs and paying for her own school and Health Care.  NO, like the thief you justify sin and make excuses and get upset when the truth is set before you. Yet, I do wish them and you well. You are right they are people, they need work, they need to feed and care for their loved ones. perhaps they need to shuck off Mexico as their nation and come like immigrants, apply, work and wait and take down that Mexican Flag, learn English and become part of it like those in our Military are doing. NO you are all wrong becuase you did not ttake the time to look and frankly after reading your comment you do not care to.

Hello Robert

I understand your anger and frustration. I do not profess to know the answer but one thing I do know is that ALL our problems are not the fault of immigrants. Our loss of jobs comes about for many reasons, not just immigrant workers. As is most of America's other ills. Please don't place all blame on them.

Blessings

Goshwin, You are correct but as I say it is not anger. It is righteous indignation.  It is about their exploitation and the condoning of it. It is in the condoning of the breaking of law. It is in allowing truth to be hidden under a cover of lies even by clergy. Now if you read me you will know what I stand for. I am totally in support of providing them with work visa's to come and work here and if they wish to become citizens go to the back of the line and wait, as I pointed out about my Uncle, who by the way is in Italy dying. Should he have waited for over twenty years because he did it the legal way?  You are also right that they are not everything that is wrong as my next article will point out. Yes and I have written to this for years as well. No, it is the acceptance of sin that is wrong and as Ghandi stated ignoring it, labeling those who openly bring it out, destroying those who bring truth to be considered. I thank you for your reading and blessings and will pray that these words help you get a better understanding of why and what i write to.

You are correct Robert in that the whole truth needs to come out and the acceptance we all have been party to needs to stop, especially if we are simply accepting due to fear and lack of will to disagree. There are so many wrongs (sins) rampant right now that I am hard-pressed in keeping up with them and trying to formulate cohesive thoughts in determining "who is right/who is wrong" though I know in my heart there is always a little right and always a little wrong, on both sides.

I feel your heart in what you say and I respect and honor that.

I look forward to reading more of your thoughts on these and similar issues.

Again Blessings.

Goshwin, Thank you for reading my article. As you can tell few do. It is the fact that I write to facts, truth and reality that people run from. Many today would rather run, hence Oxicodone and other drugs. Hence an increase in divorce, broken homes, etc. Realities people are in fear of knowing. yet as I have written to real change will never come until people make it happen. People often encourage me to run for office. I point out that one man without people of similar views cannot for the most part make any difference. No it takes a paradigm shift in the character of those who we elect to lead. To that end we have few choices. "Yes "the same old Washington crowd." Sorry it took so long to respond. I write when I can get to a computer. I have no Internet or even a computer any longer. Not even a home but I continue to write because I do believe there are some who seek reality, truth, and that recognition of that provides direction in what they need to do. Like the alcoholic or drug abuser, until one recognizes truth there can be no solution. Best wishes and God bless.
 Robert
