Judge Not Lest You Be Judged.

I’m expressing just my opinions herein but perhaps they will light your bulb as well.

Judge Not Lest You Be judged. Well certainly isn’t that what we Christians are supposed to do? However, lets examine these questions to see if we have any possibility of thinking for ourselves?

1- how is it that we are on of the most powerful and wealthiest nations in the world but we still have homeless people living on the street? In fact some live right on Pennsylvania Ave and the elite of our nation walk and drive right past them. [ Facetiously- how dare they pitch a box right where they walk? This is a booming economy and these people must be sic, lazy or something? Can’t they find a charity to stay the night? ] Rhetorically, I guess I’m not supposed to make any judgments about why this exists only those who have?

2- how is it that we are supposed to be a nation of law but the laws are conveniently ignored? Well isn’t that true when you look at any number of current issues? Immigration for one?

3- how is it that we make deals with foreign nations that impact our own citizens but we are not to make judgments about that? They call that Free Trade.

4- how is it that our political leaders can talk about ethics but can’t find many within their ranks with integrity or without prior issues. You mean being involved as a suspect in a bribe or being expelled on an earlier situation is not to be considered? Oh, forgive and forget. I got you.

5- how is it that our politicians don’t understand illegal from undocumented? I’m sorry the truth must really hurt with politicians, religious and illegal supporters because they always talk past the issue. Oh I’m sorry one might consider that being judgmental verses fact?

6- how is it that our politicians who took an oath before the God they profess have somehow ignored the laws of the land they swore to uphold and we are not supposed to judge that? I guess its ok to place your hand on a bible, swear an oath and then do what you want?

7- how is it that as a Christian nation and professed believers we can elect those who have been identified and found to be guilty of crimes and think nothing of it? They place these same people in positions of power and leadership just because they are of your race and regardless of what they did? I think one might say you’re a racist if you talk out about that so keep your judgments to yourself. How dare you question truth!

8- how is it that our elected officials can just ignore what citizens elected them to do as their representatives and do what they want? Oh this is definitely a judgment or is it an opinion or just a fact? I don’t know anymore I’m getting confused.

9- how is it that children can be sexually and physically and emotionally abused but many judges fail to enforce the law?

10- just how is it hat these people live with themselves when the issues go on and on? Now that’s a question and not a judgment.

11- how is it that Americans of all walks of life just don’t give one damn about any of it?

There are as I mentioned many more truths. Iran, North Korea, Iraq, the economy, unemployment, homeowners insurance, taxes, low wages, no health care, illegal workers and the list is endless.

No judgment here just the facts! So as you sit in your warm houses, buy your new tinker toy I-pods or new cars, that new home, or get your stock option or bonus, just remember the people on the street. Remember the Katrina victims, the homeless, those who haven’t worked in years and don’t show up on any government statistical reports, those who can’t get a nickel of help, those who must pay bills before eating a meal, the sick without health insurance, those in financial distress and the list is endless. But remember - do not judge lest you be judged!

So as it says, just do your thing and don’t worry about why, how and who. Its not you so be happy. Eat, drink and be merry and have a good time. But always remember, “There but for the grace of God, goes I"!

Your right Mr. Melaccio, When I got out of the service in '69 I coulnd't settle down with Nixon in power. I use to preach I, I, I, I, that's all he ever said. We need to say We, We, We, the people are all in this crazy world together

Yes, David you have struck a cord. We are radicals who disrupt the norms of acceptable society. They call us dreamers and idealists. Now that’s not bad - Gandhi, King, Kennedy, Mother Theresa are all pretty good company. “We” are not alone. There are a lot of good people everywhere of all faiths, races and creeds. I have pondered the question many times. Frankly my answer is in one word - Jesus.
