In memory of Sergeant Mock, a true American hero and a true representative of all our military serving throughout the world who was killed in Iraq. I wrote this poem in memory of him and for his loved ones. I never even knew he existed until it came across CNN as a Vet day special. But it just came to mind how fortunate we are to have such Americans. They are what gerneal MacAruther said- Duty, Honor, Country. perhaps we should all take a lesson from thes young Americans.

Also, there are not many words to console any family. The hurt we all feel when we send our children to war ill equiped and with no plan is incomprehensible. He had already served his tour in Hell and he had to go back. In my opinion those in power thought they would not need more men on the ground and how wrong they were. In my opinion they also sought to do it, as we say, on the cheap and they know this is the truth in their heart of hearts. Unfortunately, the more popular word of this century they were wrong and the nation and our military is paying a severe price. I must also say in my opinion no human life is cheap, not even that of our enemies.

The poem is called - Strength and Honor the motto of a man He was more a boy when he went to war, Really not knowing what was in store.

But he came home a hero, his life left behind.

An example of all in this war like his kind.

They fight for us and for our freedom and life.

Doing their job amid horror and strife.

They did their job because it had to be done.

We sent them to a war we all want won?

Did we give them equipment to defeat the foe?

Did we provide a plan or had nothing to show?

Did we consider their precious life?

Did we consider the blood they shed in this strife?

Did we just send them there for an ideology?

Does it even matter that no more will they see?

Their loved ones, the nation, the dawns early light?

The smile of a friend and the laughs in the night?

Well get this straight, you who send them to war.

To us average Americans we will forget them no more!

No need of a special day. We will remember them in our way.

To their moms and dads and those they love.

Be sure they're in heaven looking down from above.

So you who have the power, listen loud and clear.

The went their for victory, no compromise dear.

If you forget this, then you’re not worth much.

You really are the scum of the earth.

So when we lay down our head to rest.

Remember this Sergeant the best of the best.

He gave his life for you and for me.

To be able to live in Liberty.
